There’s more to this photograph than first meets the eye… 👀

We didn’t notice it straight away—but once you see it, it’s hard to unsee.

Can you spot something slightly eerie hiding in this view of Thistle Cove?

Tell us what you see—but don’t give away exactly where it is! 🤫👇

We just spent two nights Cape Le Grand , Esperance , here is a little spoiler for content ( click on the video to view Frenchman's peak properly ) of our stay at lucky bay. Definitely nice to get the caravan out for a quick weekend away - Locals loving their backyard

A little burst of colour at Lucky Bay 🌺

We spotted this beautiful native flowering right beside our campsite at Lucky Bay. We believe it’s a Woolly Net-bush, also known as the Silky Net-bush—an Esperance wildflower especially at home around Cape Le Grand National Park.

Its brilliant red, brush-like flowers certainly stand out against the coastal bushland. Sometimes the smallest discoveries are what make camping in this part of the world so special.

Can any of our local wildflower experts confirm the identification?

and Visit Esperance

13/08/2026

This time, we met a lovely lady from Kalgoorlie who shared what keeps bringing her back to Esperance.

For her, it's the fresh salt air, the crystal-clear water, and those white sandy beaches... a pretty nice change from the red dust back home.

It’s always interesting hearing what visitors love most about Esperance, because everyone has their own story to tell.

If you're from Kalgoorlie (or anywhere else!), what’s the one thing that keeps drawing you back to Esperance?

Esperance can have 4 seasons in one day - today we were blessed with two seasons in one day, and what an end to the day it was!

Half an hour earlier it was bucketing down with rain. By sunset, West Beach was glowing, the granite was shining, and the Southern Ocean was putting on one of those shows that reminds you why we call this place home.

Three mates from New Zealand rolled into Esperance on their bikes... but somehow our little shop car became known as the "company car." 😂

We asked them what had been the highlight of their trip.

One reckoned it was the shop itself (and apparently our shirts 😄), saying the banter and atmosphere made it an Esperance experience in its own right.

Another didn't hesitate... Salmon Beach was the winner.

And the third? He was busy picking out clothes for his grandkids... although the other two weren't convinced that pink princess shirt wasn't secretly for him!

It's moments like these that remind us our shop isn't just about souvenirs. It's about the people who wander in, the laughs that happen unexpectedly, and the stories travellers take home with them.

Every postcard tells a different story... this one just happened to arrive on two wheels. 🇳🇿🚴

First proper photo shoot with the DJI Mavic 4 Pro... and I'm impressed. 📸

This is Wylie Bay at sunset, captured as a bracketed panoramic image. The amount of detail this drone pulls out is incredible—from the granite rocks and reefs right through to the clouds on the horizon. I love it (ok bit excited because it's new gear ) but not the actual shot im trying for.. fortunately this place is on my way home so opportunities will come up to get "that shot" im chasing - photgraphy like fishing requires patience...

I decided to leave the two cars on the beach in the shot, along with the subtle curvature of the horizon, just to help show the sheer scale of this coastline. Sometimes those tiny details tell the story better than removing them.

The photo itself was only part of the job though... 😅

Being a bracketed panorama meant processing dozens of images. Between Lightroom, stitching, exposure blending and final colour grading, there was well over an hour of post-processing behind this single photograph - each photo was a 100mb too so my computer ground to almost a halt dealing with it. only to downsize to 7mb to upload to facebook 🤣

Definitely worth it though.

Esperance never disappoints.

Postcards from Esperance – Postcard #4

This week's postcard speaker comes all the way from the Netherlands! 🇳🇱💙

When we asked what her favourite Esperance experience had been, the answer was an easy one...

🦘 Well... almost!

It wasn't the kangaroos this time...

It was seeing our emus , They certainly leave an impression on visitors from around the world.

She couldn't resist holding up a couple of Tania's favourite creations—her Rock'n Emus artwork sticker and one of her kangaroo sticker designs, both inspired by the incredible wildlife that makes Esperance so unique.

It's always fascinating hearing what visitors remember most. Sometimes it's the beaches... sometimes it's the wildlife... and sometimes it's the unexpected moments that become the best memories.

📬 Every postcard tells a different story...

What was the wildlife encounter you'll never forget in Esperance?

Postcards from Esperance – Postcard #3

This week's postcard comes from a lovely visitor from Perth, who spent four days exploring Esperance.

When we asked her about her favourite experience, the answer came without hesitation...

🌊 Salmon Beach.

The rolling waves, the wild coastline, and simply taking in the incredible view made it a place she won't forget. It's easy to see why Salmon Beach captures so many hearts.

(And she looked pretty happy doing it in one of our pink Twilight hoodies too! 💗)

If you're planning a visit, remember that while Salmon Beach is breathtaking, the waves can be powerful. Please admire the coastline from a safe distance and stay off the rocks.
