Established in 2004 by Jennifer Wilkinson after 12 successful year working in hospitality and tourism in North East Victoria where she established and operated the highly acclaimed rural retreat “Finches of Beechworth”, Epicurious travel was a natural progression in her personal life and career.

Highlights from our excursions and time at Tierra Patagonia Lodge. From a variety of different locations in the Park we experienced stunning walks and horse rides, spectacular scenery, fabulous wildlife and a captivating immersion in a beautiful natural environment. Karuizawa is a favourite destination for Epicurious Travel, with its cool climate, outstanding galleries and lush surroundings just an hour from central Tokyo.
Any challenges posed by this final leg of the Nakasendo trail are softened by the embrace of The Hiramatsu Karuizawa Miyota hotel, with its natural hot springs, exquisite dining and fabulous staff.

It was such a pleasure to spend time in the Kiso valley to enjoy some walking and visit Post Towns along the Nakasendo Trail. This historic walking path, a centuries old route connecting Edo (Tokyo) to Kyoto via the mountainous interior, allows for a slower pace of travel. Largely surrounded by cypress and cedar, tiny monuments along the Trail are a reminder of the gentle reverence of locals to the deities they believe watch over them.

Part of my time in central Japan has been spent in the lesser known towns of Toyama, Shirakawago and Takayama; each with a uniquely individual feel. Glasswork, Kumiko timber work and excellent sake & seafood are putting Toyama on the map. The UNESCO listed Shirakawago is a living open-air museum of centuries-old thatched roof houses situated in a spectacular valley. With an exceptionally preserved Edo period town centre, Takayama evokes a bygone era but with excellent coffee!

I've just returned from our fabulous Food, wine and walking tour in Piemonte, Italy. This is a magnificent region of Northern Italy from its stunning capital Torino to its spectacular wine regions where Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo and Barbera wine shine. April is a perfect time to explore this beautiful region where culinary excellence is a given, sweeping vistas and lush landscapes are breathtaking and our wine tastings exceptional. A truffle hunt with Marta and her gorgeous and talented logotto Bella was lots of fun.
