Now Sydney Airport is blaming long queues and congestion on passengers arriving at the airport too far before their flight! Seems it's two hours prior, no longer and no shorter, according to the airport. And if you miss your flight or your bag gets lost, that's probably your fault too ....

Once again Greg Hunt has extended the cruise ship ban. Very disappointing. Apparently safe to cram 300 people into a flying tin can for ten hours, or allow thousands into a football game or cricket match. It's safe to allow people to stay a week at a resort hotel, mingling with all the other tourists in the bars and restaurants. But if that resort hotel happens to be at sea, then suddenly its unsafe, despite the cruise lines having nearly two years to get their covid act together and having ships sailing safely in every other part of the globe. Shame Greg Hunt. Shame Australian government.

If the Half Price Airfares are supposed to be aimed at places hurt most by international border closures then how did places like Merimbula and Devonport get on the list but not the major cities? Can't picture someone in New York or London thinking "let's have a lovely holiday in Devonport" but then as these tickets are only available during the cold months then I can't see too many Aussies wanting to go to Devonport in winter either. Waste of taxpayer money that will only benefit Qantas and Queensland.

Despite Covid and everything else, Northside has been accredited by IATA for the 32nd year. Mightn't sound much but holding accreditation required the highest levels of financial stability and industry knowledge as it allows us to issue inhouse tickets on virtually every airline in the world. Not generally known but a good number of the big online agents don't even have this so you can be assured you're dealing with a reputable company when you buy from Northside Business Travel or The Travel Cellar.

On Saturday, Qantas operated one flight from Sydney to Melbourne. It went via Canberra and was in a propeller Q400 aircraft. This is a route that, until covid19, was the second busiest route in the world. Strange days indeed, folks.

Every Monday, Rex operates a flight ZL5662 from Brisbane to Mt Isa, using one of their 35 seat Saab 340B aircraft. The flight has seven stops and takes 9hrs 15mins, surely qualifying it as the longest duration domestic flight in Australia.
