Forster’s #1 Boatshed is looking for a reliable, hardworking person who wants more than just a casual job — we’re offering the opportunity to build a genuine career in the marine industry and train towards becoming a skipper.
This is a hands-on, varied role where no two days are the same. You’ll work across our boat hire and maritime tourism operations while learning practical skills, including:
🚤 Boat handling and driving
⚓ Skippering and safe vessel operations
🔧 Outboard motor servicing and basic mechanics
🛟 Marine safety and emergency procedures
🧼 Vessel preparation, cleaning and maintenance
👥 Customer service and tourism operations
🌊 Local waterways, weather and navigation
📋 Daily vessel checks and operational procedures
For the right person, we’re prepared to provide training, practical experience and support through a marine traineeship, with the goal of developing you into a capable and confident skipper.
We’re looking for someone who is:
✅ Reliable and turns up when they say they will
✅ Honest, hardworking and willing to learn
✅ Practical and comfortable working with their hands
✅ Confident dealing with customers
✅ Able to follow instructions and take safety seriously
✅ Happy working outdoors, around boats and on the water
✅ Available across weekends, school holidays and busy tourism periods
✅ Interested in building a long-term marine career
A boat licence or Coxswain qualification would be a great advantage, but it isn’t essential for the right person with the right attitude.
You must hold, or be willing to obtain, a First Aid certificate once employed.
This would be an ideal opportunity for a motivated school leaver, junior or early-career applicant who loves boats and wants to gain real qualifications, practical skills and a pathway into skippering and maritime tourism. All suitable applicants are welcome to apply.
