Looking back at such a special culinary journey through Sicily — and one of those memories that still feels like yesterday.
For the first time, I had the wonderful experience of cooking alongside the duchess. A truly memorable day filled with food, stories, tradition and that unmistakable Sicilian warmth.
And then, out in the countryside near my parents’ village, came another unforgettable experience: making fresh ricotta the traditional way. There is something incredibly beautiful about being so close to the land, the people and the food that has been part of generations of family history.
Sicily has a way of reminding you that the best recipes aren’t only about ingredients — they’re about place, heritage, family and the people you share them with.

2017 was a very special year for our Sicilian Culinary Tours.
We were lucky enough to run two wonderful tours, welcoming both new and returning guests. Seeing familiar faces come back for a second experience reminded us just how magical Sicily can be.
The year was made even more memorable when our twins joined us for the final three days after spending a week with family, improving their Italian and reconnecting with their roots.
From cooking, tasting, and exploring, to sharing stories around the table, lifelong friendships were created. Looking back, we're so grateful for every person who became part of our Sicilian family.

Looking back on one of the most memorable culinary tours I’ve had the privilege of leading in Sicily in 2016.
The journey was filled with incredible food, beautiful landscapes, and unforgettable connections. One highlight was welcoming Donna and Geoff from the USA. Geoff’s family roots traced back to Sicily. Through conversations and a little local knowledge, our family was able to help uncover information about his ancestors from Ferla, the very town where my father-in-law was born.
What began as a culinary adventure became something much deeper: a journey of heritage, family, and belonging. Moments like these remind me that travel has the power to connect us not only to new places, but also to our own stories.

Thinking back to our unforgettable 2015 tour, and especially our very first visit to the beautiful Casa del Biviere gardens in Lentini. 🌿✨
It was a truly magical experience, made even more special by meeting the princess of Casa del Biviere, who was 92 years young at the time. What a privilege to hear her stories and experience a little piece of history in such an enchanting setting.

Some places stay with you long after the journey ends — and this is certainly one of them.

Looking back to my 2013 culinary tour of Sicily, I’m filled with such wonderful memories of the people, places and flavours that made that journey so special.
One of the highlights was meeting the Duchess from Butera Apartments for the very first time. What began as a meeting during that unforgettable trip became one of those beautiful connections that stays with you long after the tour has ended. So too has having met Count Paolo Marzotto founder of the magical Baglio di Pianetto which holds a very special place in my heart.
And then there was a visit to Antico Dolceria Bonajuto in Modica — a true pilgrimage for anyone who loves Sicilian food and chocolate. Stepping into this historic dolceria and tasting its wonderful traditional chocolate was a moment I still remember so vividly.
Thirteen years on, I can still taste those flavours, picture those streets and feel the excitement of discovering Sicily through its food and its people.
It’s memories like these that remind me why I love sharing Sicily through my culinary tours — because the best journeys are about so much more than what’s on the plate.

From its humble beginnings…
It’s hard to believe that what began with our very first culinary tour of Sicily back in 2012 has grown into a journey that has now taken us through 11 unforgettable tours.
And with our next adventure beginning just one month from today, I thought it was time to take a little trip down memory lane…
Over the coming days, I’ll be sharing the story of one of those tours — the places we discovered, the incredible people we met, the tables we gathered around, and, of course, the food that has always been at the heart of it all.
For Michael and I these experiences of Sicily have never simply been about eating.
It’s about the food, the people and the journey.
It’s the food artisan who proudly shares their family’s traditions
My relatives who insist you have just one more bite.�The feasting, the unexpected discoveries, the laughter around the table… and all those little moments that turn a holiday into a memory you carry with you.
So, let’s go back to where it all began…
2012 — Tour #1.
Over the next few days, I’ll be bringing those memories back to life, one tour at a time.
