✨Careers Dinner Photos✨

Last week, the Deakin Law Students Society Geelong hosted our annual Careers Dinner. The night was a successful collaboration between the society, various law firms, and PLT providers, championed by our careers portfolio.

The dinner featured presentations on law firms, clerkships, PLT, and career pathways, and provided networking opportunities for those in attendance.

❕This is a message for all law students❕

The client counselling competition is returning for a second year! Get involved and have some fun practicing your legal advice skills.
This competition is open to all law students in second year or above, so take a chance and see how you go!
This year we have an updated time limit, so use your 8 minutes wisely to organise your legal advice and counselling skills.

This competition is individual, so no need to find a partner!
Competitors will have 24 hours to create and submit your advice for both rounds, while you will be given 48 hours if you make it to the finals.

❕Attention all Senior law students❕

The Senior Negotiations competition is running again this year! So come and join if you are third year or above ⚖️

Take the time to flex your negotiation skills and uncover new competition tactics and you may be the winner for the competition.

You and your partner will be in charge of advocating for a fictional party based on a fact scenario. Faced up against another team you will have to try and achieve a favourable outcome for your client.

Sign ups will be open 1st of April, so grab yourself a partner and join the competition!

If you can’t find a partner you can still compete, as we will pair you up with another student to prepare for the competition 💫

⚖Graduate Lawyer Position – Succession Legal ⚖

Succession Legal is looking for a passionate Law Graduate who has completed or is about to complete their Practical Legal Training to join our team. The firm's focus is Wills and Estates & Conveyancing.

The successful candidate will thrive on helping their clients navigate the legal system to achieve the best possible outcome.

⭐About the role
This full-time role offers a rewarding work environment, where you will have the opportunity to grow and develop as a valued member of a team with plenty of client facing contact. It will require you to:
-Work across a variety of different legal matters and manage multiple matters simultaneously in Wills & Estates and Conveyancing;
-Under supervision, advise and represent clients, with a focus on helping them achieve the best possible outcome – people skills developed in hospitality, retail or professional services would be useful;
-Manage your own matters and cases semi-autonomously, with the support and supervision of the firm’s principal;
-Assist in drafting Wills and Powers of Attorney, completing Applications for Grants of Representation and briefing Counsel for Estate Litigation Matters;
-Assisting the Principal in her newly appointed role as a Notary Public;
-There will also be administrative tasks required to support the Principal and Probate Clerk.
