Volunteers are an essential part of our visitor experience at the Visitor Information Centre and the Watch House and these tourism focused roles offer opportunities to:
• Welcome visitors to the region
• Provide local knowledge and visitor information
• Promote events, attractions, and experiences
• Gain skills in customer service, tourism, and visitor engagement
We are looking for friendly, community minded people who enjoy meeting new faces and showcasing George Town to visitors.

Low Head Pilot Station
Wednesday 22 April 2026

The café, accommodation and public toilets at the Low Head Pilot Station will close from 22 April 2026.

This is a temporary closure until a new lessee is appointed.

Public access to the grounds, Low Head Pilot Station Maritime Museum and Low Head Penguin Tours remains open.

It's Walrus Dreaming's turn for a refurb! For the safety of riders and the Trail Crew, the entire trail will remain closed for the duration of works, which we're anticipating to be a few weeks.

MOUNT GEORGE TRAILS CLOSED

With the current weather situation we have decided to temporarily close the Mount George Trail Network. We will inspect the trail as soon as the weather has passed, and should reopen shortly thereafter - hopefully for the weekend!
