The sun was shining and the weather warm - what a day to get out on the water and pull some pots! ☀️

Today's guests experienced our signature pot pull, where they caught the iconic Western Rock Lobster. Our onboard chef cooked them up then and there, providing one of the freshest lunches in town 🦞

On the way home from the Abrolhos last week on the Dhu Force (Eco Abrolhos Day Boat), we noticed an extraordinary amount of whales breaching. We’re more accustomed to seeing our mammoth friends putting on a show in the Kimberley right now, more so than the Abrolhos Islands.

With the water temperatures rising, perhaps they’re not travelling as far north to breed this year?

Normally these whales would be long past the Abrolhos by now, but at this time they were not heading North at all and were in mass proportions around the Abrolhos Islands, soaking up the sun and having fun around the islands instead.

Has anyone else spotted excessive amounts of whales in the waters around the Abrolhos and Kalbarri this year? There doesn’t seem to be the same quantity close to the coast, but once you get in the Abrolhos zone, they're everywhere you look.

The Abrolhos is a pretty special place — and we'd love to keep it that way!

That’s why we work very closely with visiting international cruise ships that pull into the Abrolhos Islands to help them explore the Abrolhos responsibly while keeping their impact on the islands to a minimum.

Eco Abrolhos had some fun with a French cruise liner last week (M/V - LE SOLEAL), with our local Day Boat crew helping to showcase the islands unique Batavia Mutiny history tours. Thanks for having us Ponant!

As more visitors discover this incredible part of WA, we believe there’s a responsibility to make sure they experience it with care and respect for the environment that makes it so unique.

Having local operators working hand in hand with these transiting ships has been beneficial to both parties.
