✈️ Velocity Frequent Flyer – Pick Your Bonus is back!

Choose between Double Velocity Points or Double Status Credits when you fly with Virgin Australia — but choose carefully, as you can’t change your selection once it’s locked in. Pressure!

✅ Activate by 13 June 2025
✅ Book by 13 June 2025
✅ Travel between 3 June 2025 and 29 April 2026

Now technically, status credits have more value — they’re harder (and more expensive) to earn.

But personally, I’ll be choosing points. If you don’t fly enough to actually reach a higher status level, those extra status credits won’t do anything for you — whereas points can be used for something of value.

Update 12/05 - confirmed by Qantas & Emirates that no changes to partner airline availability (for now). Phew.

A Heads up - Qantas Losing Emirates First Class Reward Availability?

While it hasn’t been officially confirmed by Emirates or Qantas, there’s been strong chatter overnight that, as per a notice on its website, Emirates will restrict First Class reward availability to elite status members of its own program — effective Monday 12 May (from 6am AEST / midnight Dubai time).

If true, this would be a big blow to the Qantas Points Program.

If you’ve been considering a First Class booking with Emirates using Qantas Points, you might want to lock it in today — remembering that Qantas Classic Reward bookings can be cancelled for 6,000 points per person.

I guess all will be revealed come tomorrow....

I haven't used TripADeal before but most feedback I get from followers is good - considering the low pricing. Just ensure you check the itinerary and related info before booking. Personally I'd value these points at 1c each - so look at it as a $200 'discount'.
