The BMW Safari is a multi-day ride of either off-road adventure or road-touring for BMW motorcycle owners. The event is an official event of BMW Motorrad Australia. It is unique to Australia and there are two different flavours of the Safari – the “TS Safari” for road bikes and the “GS Safari” for off-road adventure bikes like the legendary R 1200 GS.

Day 2 was one for the record books… 252km’s of outback bliss. Kulgera to Mount Dare via the remote outback town of Finke before setting up camp on the western edge of the Simpson dessert.

A warm welcome and the ultimate start to the 2026 ENDURO. We spent the night experiencing the sounds of silence dinner before firing up our GS’s and riding 350km of Australian Outback from Uluru to Kulgera via Curtin springs, through Mulga Park & the infamous Gun Barrel HWY. An incredible start to 7 days of GS Country.

MEET THE SAFARI CREW
Meet Blake “Baz” Smith, the quiet overachiever.

Baz is one of the friendly faces you’ll see first thing each morning, and his day doesn’t finish until the very last bike is back and the workshop is closed. His work ethic is exceptional, and he’s always happy to lend a hand to keep the wheels turning.

During the day, Baz rides alongside Dr Smithy, acting as Doc’s personal tech while relaying communications back to HQ. Whether he’s assisting riders on the trail, troubleshooting an issue, or helping behind the scenes, Baz is always where he’s needed, quietly getting the job done.

He’s one of those crew members who never asks for the spotlight but plays a huge role in making every BMW Safari a success.
