A break from today with Chan Dissanayake in Japan to learn about Kimono culture and to experience a very peaceful tea ceremony. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would enjoy a touristy thing like this, if there we all were giggling like little girls playing dress ups picking our favourite colours and matching bags!

Our very first Japan trip feels amazing and we get ready for our second group on Wednesday as we head up into the mountains.

Every day I am grateful for this incredible group of creative women. I see new friendships forged and warmth and support spread like wildfire.

We are already taking expressions for 2027 and 2028 with a variety of artists and mediums, who would be your favourite to come here with?!

Our first day painting in Japan with Chan Dissanayake Art and what a start!

We headed to the Gion district in Kyoto to sit in a beautiful quiet street to paint before heading to the Yasaka Shrine.

Day one painting often feels challenging, but we enjoyed sinking in to watch all of the passers by and of course Chan’s incredible demos. There were so many beautiful Japanese coming to the area to dress up in traditional clothes and take family portraits and also a few brides.they happily let me take their pics and smiled.

Japan is incredibly clean and the weather gods were with us today.

It was a big walk back after such a full day and we got sidetracked to go and see the geisha district and museum location. Will try and get back there - looked amazing.

Learning that the Geisha are trained entertainers and take their craft very seriously. It’s a fascinating culture!
