To our incredible Doyles community,
We want to take this time to thank you all for your support around the Doyles in creating the extraordinary success that it is today.
We currently stand as the Gold Coast’s longest running art award and have handed out thousands of dollars in prize money and sales during our time. Yet our success has been around so much more. The community of artists, art lovers and sponsors who have all contributed have meant that the Doyles have become beloved far and wide.
The current committee of volunteers have been in operation for the past 8 years and have had to manage vast challenges around our growth that we never anticipated. During this time we have moved from around 300 entries to more than 1000 each year. We hang nearly 500 works annually and bring in an army of volunteers to help thousands of visitors through the exhibition. It is and always has been community in action.
The Doyles are now in a new phase of growth once again as we realise that the event needs something so much more than what the small group of volunteers on the committee can offer. This means that some of the usual faces that you have come to know are moving on. This opens up a space for a special organisation or leader to step in and steer the Doyles into the future. If that is you, please reach out to Councillor Glenn Tozer’s office.
As we sign off, we want to take this time to thank each and every one of you. It has been an incredible privilege to serve the art community and we look forward to seeing the event move into the future.
