🦅White-Bellied Sea Eagle.
This week crew were treated to not 1 but 4! White-Bellied Sea Eagles!
One of Australia’s most impressive birds of prey, the White-bellied Sea Eagle is a familiar sight along the Coorong, Lower Murray and Fleurieu coastlines.
With a wingspan reaching over 2 metres, these magnificent raptors patrol estuaries, wetlands, rivers and coastal waters in search of fish, waterbirds and carrion. Their striking white head, breast and tail contrast beautifully against slate-grey wings, making them easy to identify as they soar overhead.
White-bellied Sea Eagles are known to form long-term breeding pairs and can use the same nest for many years, gradually building enormous structures high in large trees or coastal cliffs.
Of the four spotted this week we saw 3 adults and 1 juvenile 🪶
