Sri Lanka is an island gem - beautiful, fascinating and full of things to discover.

The food is fabulous, the culture and rituals exquisite, and the Buddhist temples with their glorious paintings are truly divine.

Then there are the crafts. We meet the artisans, see how they work and, best of all, have a go ourselves.

Fancy making lace? It looks incredibly complex, but the ladies assured me we will all be able to master a sweet little flower motif. I am holding them to it!

In reverse.

It is such a pleasure visiting Sudhir and his family, I worked with them for years when I ran The Stitching Project and appreciate being able to keep in contact.

Sudhir, his 2 daughters and wife are a great team helping everyone print and patiently letting us experiment with paper too.
I bet they were scratching their head a bit but they let us play.
