The lifeblood of Gundagai 💧

Flowing through our valleys and shaping our way of life, the Murrumbidgee, Tumut River, and Morley’s Creek are more than just waterways — they’re the heart and soul of Gundagai.

These rivers and creeks have sustained the land and its people for generations. They irrigate our farms, provide habitat for wildlife, and create peaceful spaces where locals and visitors come to reflect, explore, and unwind.

Golden light, timeless trees, and echoes of history 🌿

Wander beneath the towering river red gums, breathe in the crisp morning air, and admire the golden glow of the hills beyond. This landscape holds more than just beauty – it tells the stories of generations past.

The Gundagai Common is one of our town’s most historically and culturally significant locations, rich with Wiradjuri heritage and community memories. From the iconic railway viaduct to the peaceful presence of the Murrumbidgee nearby, it’s a place that continues to connect us to the land and each other.

Where lyrics meet the landscape 🎶

Gundagai isn’t just a town — it’s a muse.

From the heartfelt lines of "Along the Road to Gundagai" by Jack O’Hagan, to the bush poetry of "Nine Miles from Gundagai" by Jack Moses, our hills and highways have long inspired songs, poems and stories that echo across generations.

Whether it's Flash Jack from Gundagai, Snake Gully Swagger, or When a Boy from Alabama Meets a Girl from Gundagai — there's a melody behind every bend and a story in every shadow.

📍 This winding road feels like a verse waiting to be sung.

Welcome to the Gundagai Visitor Information Centre

Stocking local produce and a wide range of souvenirs, Gundagai Visitor Information Centre is located on the left hand side of the main street (Sheridan Street) as you come into town. The friendly staff can guide you to all the attractions Gundagai has to offer. Take the Heritage Walking Tour to capture the essence of this historic and fascinating township. Gundagai's best kept secret is Rusconi`s Marble Masterpiece on display at the Visitors Centre, 20,948 pieces of carved NSW marble taking 28 years to complete. This one man`s hobby has become a must see. Enquire at the counter for an audio tour of the old Gundagai Gaol, where Captain Moonlight the bushranger was sentenced and spent the night. In Carberry Park adjacent to the centre are the Dad, Dave, Mum and Mabel copper statues, wonderfully sculptured by Aurel Ragus. The visitor centre also books Greyhound and VLine coach tickets and Trainlink coach and train services.

Gundagai Visitor Information Centre is part of the Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council.
