A massive meteor crater in the middle of nowhere — and that’s exactly the appeal.

Out in the red dirt wilds of the Kimberley, Wolfe Creek Crater punches a huge hole in the desert — literally. It's one of the biggest meteorite craters on Earth, and standing on the rim looking out over that perfectly round bowl is properly humbling. You can’t hike into the crater (too sketchy with loose rock), but the rim walk gives you epic views and a solid sense of scale.

Camping here is as remote as it gets — just a few basic sites, a drop toilet, and not much else. No water, no power, no bookings. You’ll need to be fully self-sufficient and roll in with a 4WD, ideally in the dry season when the Tanami Road isn’t trying to swallow vehicles whole.

The stars out here? Unreal. No light, no noise — just you, your swag, and the kind of sky that makes you feel small in the best way.
