Very unusual start to our day
One of our guests spotted this whale stuck on a sand bank near Moon Point
A Minke whale was stranded up on the bank
At first we thought it may have been deceased, but on closer inspection we saw movement
We contacted Parks and other operators
With an incoming tide, the spiritofherveybay with Jason as the captain did a couple of slow passes on the inside and was successful in gettta large enough wake on the the sand bank to help free the whale
We watched it swim off the bank into deeper waters and hope that is is ok

What a Monday it was! 🐋 (14/09/26)
To see a calf with a dark belly is a very rare treat in Hervey Bay.
This calf was very curious and confident, eyeballing us with very deliberate close jumps. And then to top it off the calf even opened its little mouth at times! 🥰

In the Southern Hemisphere over 80% of the Humpback whales have predominately white bellies.

On our way home we were flagged down up by a beautiful mum, she brought her calf over and they were closely circling the vessel in a bid to avoid a boisterous male, she clearly had no interest him, but sadly he didn't get the memo!

It was a bit of a showery day in the bay for Thursday's Exclusive Whale Encounter but the whales loved it with lots of activity. Our first pod of the day was a nursery pod of two mums and calfs with a third mum and calf joining in later on.
