At the Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre, we're lucky to have a team that genuinely loves Tasmania and the community we call home.

While our resources may be limited, our team always puts their heart into supporting local activations, sharing stories about our region, and helping visitors discover the very best our island has to offer. Their passion is infectious, and it shines through in every conversation and every recommendation.

We're grateful to work alongside such a dedicated group of people who care deeply about creating memorable experiences for visitors while also supporting the local communities, businesses, and places that make Tasmania so special.

Care, connection, and community are at the heart of what we do.

As winter arrives across our beautiful island, we wish everyone a season filled with warmth, adventure, and plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy Tasmania.

We’re so fortunate to have beautiful land that produces world-class food — from orchard fruit and fresh vegetables to seafood, wine and everything in between. Every meal tells a story of the people who grow it, harvest it and care for this place we call home.

Tassie really is a feast for the senses!

A huge congratulations to our incredible food producers, farmers, chefs, restaurants and all those who help showcase our produce and make this island one of the world’s great food destinations. From paddock to plate, coast to kitchen, your passion, care and creativity are what make Tasmanian food so extraordinary. Proud to see our little island recognised on the global stage.

We get asked this question pretty often - What do I do when the weather is not great?! Whilst we can certainly recommend museums and places to be indoors, we don't get torrential rain in Tasmania - so it's pretty nice to go for a leisurely walk around the city and take in the sights and even look out for our local wildlife whether it's birds like Turbo Chooks, fairy wrens and so many more. You can walk along the Hobart rivulet and find a platypus just soaking it all in, having a float and and being cheeky like this guy was today. Our conclusion: Tassie is great all year so come down for a visit and speak to our team if you have questions about your travel plans.

She’s golden, Tassie! 🍷✨

From the Huon Valley to to the Derwent Valley, the vines are turning, and the wine is pouring. 🍂 Embrace the ultimate cozy autumn getaway: wood-fired pizzas, local Pinot Noir, and stunning golden foliage. Pack your scarves and bring your appetite! 🧡

Spending the weekend in Hobart? You’re in for something special.

Start your morning wandering through the iconic Salamanca Market (Saturdays only). Grab a coffee, chat to the makers, and soak up the creative energy that makes our city hum.

If nature is calling, take a scenic drive south to Hartz Mountains National Park and summit Hartz Peak. The track winds through alpine landscapes before rewarding you with sweeping views across Tasmania’s rugged southwest — it’s spectacular on a clear day.

Don't be fooled - even in summer Tasmanian mountains are subject to ever changing weather - so be prepared for 4 seasons in one day. Always inform someone when travelling and follow leave no trace principles!

Last week, our Travel Centre team had the privilege of visiting Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary after hours - and what a fabulous experience it was! 🐾🐾🐾

We were treated to up-close wildlife interactions that reminded us just how special Tasmania’s native animals truly are. From curious creatures to gentle giants, every moment was a chance to learn, connect, and appreciate the amazing work being done to protect them.

We also had the opportunity to tour their brand-new wildlife hospital, a purpose-built facility that is nothing short of extraordinary. Seeing firsthand the care, dedication, and innovation behind the scenes left us inspired and deeply grateful. A huge thank you to the Bonorong team for welcoming us, educating us, and for everything you do for Tasmania’s wildlife.
