Today was adventure day here in Ubud and WOW, we definitely earned our showers tonight. Thanks to Bali Best Transport & Tour for this tour package.

We learned all about how silver for jewellery is made and how the sterling silver number actually represents the percentage of pure silver in the jewellery. For example, 925 sterling silver means it contains 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper or other metals added for strength. Pure silver on its own is actually too soft to make jewellery, so adding a small amount of copper makes it stronger and more durable. But if too much copper is added, it can affect the quality and even cause the silver to turn green over time.

Then it was time to create our own rings. Lynden made a thick silver band with his own engraved pattern, while I made a delicate thin band with a beautiful white gemstone. It was so satisfying turning a plain piece of silver into something you can actually wear and keep forever. Such a special memory from Bali.

Then came the part we were definitely NOT prepared for, buggy riding.

This turned into full-on mud chaos. We were flying through muddy water, bouncing over jumps, driving down roads missing chunks out of them and getting absolutely drenched from head to toe. WorkSafe Australia would be beside themselves if this was in Australia but hey, that is why I keep doing this here, it is loads of fun. By the end we looked like we’d been dragged through a swamp and most of it was still in our gum boots.

It was back to the villa time for a refresh, drop the laundry off for cleaning and straight to a local Warung for a feed. It was 3pm and we hadn’t eaten but we needed a good break from food until now. Delicious food.

We have made it back to Bali.

Yesterday started very early with transport to the airport and a full day of travel from Bangkok to Singapore then Singapore to Bali. We flew with Scoot and decided to try Scoot Plus for the first time. It is more like premium economy and honestly, it was fantastic. A good foot rest and reclined further.

The crazy part? It was about the same price as flying economy with Thai Airways, so we thought, why not give it a shot? And we are so glad we did. Plenty of room, great service, our own toilet section on the plane, and much more comfortable seating. I’d definitely recommend Scoot Plus if you’re looking for extra comfort without the high price tag.

We landed in Bali around 6:45pm and finally arrived at our villa in Ubud around 9:30pm, was ready for a good sleep.

Today was the complete opposite pace, and exactly what we needed. I woke to the beautiful view of our pool villa.

A slow, relaxing villa day. We had breakfast delivered and I ordered Mei Goreng and Lynden ordered Nasi Goreng. 😃 We wandered down to the local supermarket to stock up on snacks, drinks and ice for villa cocktails by the pool. Lunch was at a beautiful little Italian restaurant directly across the road where we had the most amazing pasta dishes.

The afternoon was spent exactly how a Bali holiday should be, floating around in the private pool, drinks in hand, lots of laughs and absolutely nowhere we needed to be.

We decided to go back to the same Italian restaurant again for dinner because we were interested to try the pizza. We shared a seafood pizza and it was really good. The service and food in Bali is incredible.

Tomorrow we are back into adventure mode with an early start. We will be making silver jewellery, thinking rings, and then heading off on a buggy ride through Ubud, which should be so much fun.

Bangkok has absolutely blown us away over the last two days.

Yesterday we jumped on a long-tail boat ride and spent two hours cruising through the canals of Bangkok. It was such an incredible way to see another side of the city. We stopped at a small local market along the canal, fed the fish (which, for a brief moment, I thought the fish food were Cheetos for us to snack on 🤦‍♀️😂 turns out it was snack food for the fish, oops), and visited the Big Buddha and wow, photos do not prepare you for how massive it really is.

Last night we hopped on a dinner cruise along the river and honestly, it was a very enjoyable experience and one I recommend. We sat up on the rooftop deck with the most beautiful views of Bangkok lit up at night. The buffet was incredible, so much delicious food that I wanted to try absolutely everything, but there’s only so much room one person has. The entertainment was traditional Thai dancing, finished with a small band and lots of dancing.

Today was a slower day with some catch up work and a few things to organise, but we finished the day with what has officially become the BEST food tour I have ever done.

We spent three hours zipping around Bangkok in tuk-tuks stopping at four Michelin-accredited food spots with all receiving awards each year from 2018–2026. Every single dish was amazing, but what really made the experience special was our guide. Not only did he take us to incredible places, but he also shared so much about Bangkok, Thai culture, local life, and traditions along the way.

Bangkok has been chaotic, delicious, exciting, sweaty, beautiful and unforgettable all at once and we’ve loved every second of it. ❤️

Tomorrow we are on our way to Ubud Bali. We have business class seats on Scoot. They were the same price as economy on Thai Airways, so thought, why not give it a try. Budget airline business class has to be better than economy on not budget airlines right? We will soon see 😁

Phuket, you have been good to us. 🌴🇹🇭

The last week has been exactly what we needed, beautiful people, the friendliest staff, endless Pad Thai and Tom Yum soups, lazy pool dips and massages. We also made some new friendships while here.

The jet skiing was such an adrenaline rush, but honestly, spending time with the elephants was something really special. Walking with them, feeding them and just being present in the moment is something I’ll never forget. 💛🐘

Thailand really does have a way of making you relax, recharge and appreciate the simple things.

Now it’s time for the next chapter of the trip, Bangkok for 3 nights.

I feel like we’re about to swap pools and palm trees for rooftop bars, street food, chaos, cocktails and adventure and I’m very ready for it.
