Wild Island promotes excellence in creative arts, craftsmanship and design. It fosters insightful thinking and the building of community, especially as these pertain to the identity of Tasmania as a ‘wild island’. Today is Threatened Species Day - a reminder of the extraordinary creatures we share this island with, and how much there is to lose.

From teeny tiny marsupials to soaring birds, Tasmania is home to species found nowhere else on Earth! Protecting them begins with awareness… learning what lives alongside us, understanding the threats they face, and supporting conservation efforts.

Our Threatened Species Project collection is one small way to celebrate these remarkable animals and keep their stories visible 💚

Thirty-six Views of the Mountain by Belinda Hall is now on display 🍃

Please join us for the official opening tomorrow night, Thursday September 3rd at 5:30pm!

This gorgeous exhibition explores the idea of nature in its many forms as our constant anchor… finding beauty in the seemingly mundane. Belinda’s work feels familiar, playful and wistful ✨

Up next, we’re delighted to welcome Belinda Hall whose distinctly local work has been inspired by famed Japanese woodblock artist Hokusai. While he worked with woodcut prints & Fuji as his mountain muse, Belinda works in linocut & pays homage to our iconic Kunanyi. This is an insightful, poetic and distinctly different rendering of our beautiful locale. Views of Kunanyi are captured from both wild & urban perspectives, proving that our connection with wild places can be both profound & immersive or everyday & mundane. We’re excited to see this one come to life in September.
OFFICIAL OPENING Thursday 3 September with renowned Tassie artist Patrick Hall opening the exhibition. ALL WELCOME ⛰️ 💚
