🐋 KILLER WHALES IN JERVIS BAY!! 🖤🤍

Yesterday afternoon, we were treated to an absolutely incredible encounter with a pod of 8 ORCAS cruising through the waters of Jervis Bay!

While Jervis Bay is well known for its humpback whales and resident dolphins, encounters with killer whales are much rarer, making yesterday’s sighting something truly special!

🌊 A few fascinating facts about orcas:

🐬 They’re actually dolphins! Despite their name, killer whales are the largest members of the dolphin family.

🐋 Apex predators: Orcas sit at the very top of the ocean’s food chain, hunting everything from fish and seals to dolphins and even other whales!

🤍 Strong family bonds: Orcas are incredibly intelligent and social animals, often travelling in close family groups known as pods.

🌏 East Coast visitors: Orcas are occasionally spotted along Australia’s East Coast, but sightings are rare and their movements can be unpredictable!

Encounters like these are a reminder of just how incredible and unpredictable our ocean can be. You truly never know what you’re going to come across when heading out onto the water!
