Last week, the team headed south to Jervis Bay in NSW to reports of a critically endangered Grey Nurse Shark that was entangled with a nasty hook, trace and line.

Thanks to the support of Lara & Dylan from Woebegone Dive, the teams were able to locate not only the target shark but another individual with a fishing line entanglement.

Our specialised dive team individually caught the sharks and brought them safely to the surface allowing Dr Luke from the The Aquarium Vet to complete the hook removal process on the duckboard of the Woebegone Dive vessel before providing the sharks with a round of antibiotics prior to them being returned to the idyllic waters of Jervis Bay.

These were the sixth and seventh Grey Nurse Sharks rescued by the team in 2025, and we are continuing to urge people to fish responsibly and for dive communities to report any sightings of injured sharks to give our team the opportunity to provide assistance.

Life lately has been busy and ocean packed.

So many beautiful moments in the water, long days, new adventures and plenty of chaos in between.

Feeling grateful for this life we’re creating, the people we get to share it with and the incredible place we get to call home.

Thank you to everyone who has jumped on a whale swim, scuba charter, course or kids class. We appreciate your ongoing support. Massive thanks to our team we appreciate your long days out in the elements.

Today we’re heading out with our mates WOEBEGONE DIVE .
For the latest Days in the Bay, Dylan and Lara took us beyond Point Perpendicular to see a side of Jervis Bay (or let’s face it, the world!) that most of us don’t get to experience.
They run Woebegone Dive together, often with their son Leon in tow, sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm for everything happening above and below the surface.
Jervis Bay is Australia’s deepest harbour and eight times the size of Sydney Harbour, with sandstone cliffs, caves, marine mammals, seabirds and some seriously big fish, (and Us) all calling it home. And it’s all literally just five minutes from our other home, the taproom.

Too much comfort can make us forget to be grateful for the simple things.

I think that’s why I’m so drawn to the ocean. It takes us away from the noise of everyday life and gives us space to slow down, be present and think about what really matters.

Swimming through caves, exploring beneath the surface and being completely immersed in nature reminds me how little we actually need to feel fulfilled.

I really believe that finding something you’re passionate about, following your dreams and spending time doing what makes you feel alive gives you a greater sense of purpose.

And with that connection comes a desire to protect what you love.

For us, that means living a little more consciously, choosing a plant-based lifestyle, reducing our footprint where we can and trying to give back to the planet that gives us so much.

We don’t all have to do everything perfectly, but we can all make choices that make a difference.

Maybe we just need to spend a little more time outside, a little less time consuming and a lot more time appreciating this incredible planet we get to call home.

This month we’re proud to feature Woebegone Dive a family run freediving, scuba diving and snorkelling business based right here in Jervis Bay, and one that completes their First Aid, CPR and Advanced Resuscitation training with us every year.

Born and raised on the South Coast, the team at offers small group ocean experiences grounded in education, conservation and genuine connection to the sea. We’re proud to work alongside Woebegone Dive, who complete their First Aid, CPR and Advanced Resuscitation training with us each year and share a strong commitment to safety, education and care.

One of their standout offerings is Ocean School 2026, where the ocean becomes the classroom.

Ocean School runs over 8 weeks during Terms 1 and 4, with weekly 90-minute sessions designed for young adventurers. No prior snorkeling experience is needed. The program builds snorkeling skills, ocean awareness, buddy skills and a deep respect for marine life, all delivered in a calm, child-centred way.

Class schedule
• Monday 4:30pm for Callala, Myola, Culburra and Currarong
• Wednesday 10am and 4:30pm for the Jervis Bay area
• Thursday and Friday 4:30pm for Jervis Bay residents

Locations are shared weekly via a private Facebook group.

Pricing
• With own equipment $320 per term
• With full hire equipment $400 per term
