Winter 2023 has been a hit and miss few months, with a full book of work meaning a lot of time on the water, guests have endured all the highs and lows that come with Barra fishing, from donut days, 30 second bite windows, meteries up to 114cm and 20 plus legals in a session it’s had it all ! Hardbody lures have definately reigned supreme over this period with, jackal squirrels, richos and the good old flats rat for deeper water while the OSP rudra, b52’s and gold bombers killing it in the shallower waters, all matched with awesome edge range of rods, here are a few happy snaps from June, July and August,

A few captures from the last couple of months, with the cooler weather the fish are really starting to show there numbers this year, exciting times ahead We still have some availability over the next 6 weeks but July onwards is fully booked and bookings are filtering thru for the early part of 2024 Peto Marine - HOME HILL

Pretty sure if fish could talk she would be telling me to take her strong hand 🤣. With the Barra season about to kick off it’s been nice having a 3 month freshen up but raring to go for the season ahead, I have the following dates available during the month of February Wed to Friday 9,10,11
And Monday/Tuesday 21/22
All Barra charters are lure fishing only and all catch and release, no half day charters and 3 person max.

As we welcome in the new year only too happy to say goodbye to 2021, the challenges where far and wide but there was some great fishing during the final months of the season, although the big Barra fishing was a little tough with the plethora of fish under 70cm in the systems willing to eat lures the biggest Barra this season was a beast 122cm from friend and regular client Rob Wells, was an awesome sight to see this animal in full flight and the bulk shows it’s been in a good paddock, I even managed to up my saltwater Barra PB to 122cm during winter after covid cancelled a couple of weeks of charters at short notice

A few important thank you’s before we go, huge thanks to Raymond Petersen and the team at Peto Marine another year of faultless servicing to make sure I never miss a day on the water, thanks to Mercury marine Australia for your continued support, reliability and fuel economy play a large role in helping the bottom line in this line of work and I couldn’t be happier with my Mercs

Craig Griffiths and the team at Fishtec solutions supplying us with the brilliant range of edge rods that our guests use on a daily basis, the huge range of rods available mean there is something to suit every angler that matches perfectly to the lures used in each application, this also includes the range of castaic plastics and Imakatsu and OSP hard bodies

Also thanks to lecky leg Australia for there electric support brackets and kipawa propellers,Jackall lures Australia with the ever reliable squirrel range and Transams and humminbird electronics for the best sounders on the market

A special shout out to Telstra for there continuous rubbish reception on the outskirts of town that often means I have no missed calls and up to 2 weeks for messages to come thru and to the virus on my computer that wiped out most of my emails for the last 5 months 🖕🏻

Jono with a beast that had us all fooled until put on the lie detector, a beautiful Barra that measured in at 96cm, over the years the tree in the picture could tell some stories of shredded leaders and braid and a few expletives that have been thrown at it after a lost fish or 2, using the first strike 705 spin Jono man handled this Barra into the net still green as ….. !! The great fishing this season continues 👌🏻

Jodes with a fat 93cm chromie from the shallows, easy to see why they are so healthy after this one regurgitated about 3kg of mullet, gar and herring all over the place on its first jump, quickly released to fight another day, the Edge black widow 706 spin was perfect to use in the open water scenario pinging lures a long way so as to not to spook them

Rob with a healthy low 80’s model from the deep, the edge delta 723 spin showing it’s versatility on a day where the smaller the lure the better the bite in 18ft of water, 🤣
