Been a busy couple of weeks on the river, with a few sounder setups and tutorials, along with fishing adventures for clients from SA, Bendigo and closer to home. 🎣

One of the highlights was getting young Ryan and his dad out for a morning session to show them what scoping and fishing is all about.

One of the most common things I hear from clients is how surprised they are by just how many big fish are lurking below the surface, and, even more so, the places we find them.

Ryan was lucky enough to upgrade his PB with this cracking Murray cod, caught on the new range. 👌

A pretty memorable morning and a great fish for Ryan to tick off the list!

I have been busy with sounder sessions and getting a heap of questions, so I thought id do a quick FAQ!

❓Who are these sessions for?
Anyone wanting to get more from their electronics, whether you're completely new to Live Sonar or you've been using it for years.

❓What brands do you cover?
• Garmin LiveScope
• Lowrance ActiveTarget

❓Do you set up my sounder?
Yes. I'll optimise your settings to suit your boat, transducer installation, and the type of fishing you do. More importantly, I'll explain why each setting matters so you can confidently adjust them yourself.

❓What will I learn?
• Live Sonar settings and optimisation
• Boat positioning around timber and structure
• Reading fish behaviour on the screen
• Lure presentation using Live Sonar
• Interpreting what you're actually seeing
• Practical tips and tricks from countless hours on the water
•What type of lures work and when to use them

❓Is this on the water or at the ramp?
Sessions are conducted on the water, where you can learn in real fishing situations.

❓How long is a session?
Sessions generally run for around 2–3 hours, depending on what you'd like to cover.

❓Do I need my own boat?
Yes. The session is run from your own boat using your own electronics, so everything is set up specifically for your rig.

❓Will this help me catch more fish?
A sounder is only as good as the person using it. The goal is to help you understand what you're seeing and make better decisions on the water, giving you more confidence and improving your chances of finding and catching fish.

❓How do I book?
Simply send WildCast Adventures or Braeden Lampard a message and we'll organise a time that suits.

Im always happy to answer more questions, so hit me up 🤙

With the river flows still up, I've been spending more time running sounder setup sessions while we wait for conditions to improve.

Fishing tours are set to resume from 11 August, and if the flows continue to drop as expected, we should be back on the water chasing big Murray cod 🤞

The sounder setup sessions are tailored to your boat and electronics, whether you're running Garmin LiveScope or Lowrance ActiveTarget. We go through your settings, explain what they actually do, and make the adjustments that suit the way you fish.

We also cover boat positioning, how to approach structure, reading fish behaviour on live sonar, lure presentation, and the little tips and tricks that only come from spending a lot of time on the water.

The aim isn't just to give you a set of settings to copy, it's to help you understand your sounder so you can confidently make changes as conditions change.

If you've been thinking about getting more out of your electronics before the season really gets going, send WildCast Adventures or Braeden Lampard a message and we'll organise a session 🤙

I'm super excited to announce that and I have teamed up!

I first came across them on Instagram, and I was hooked by the designs straight away. It didn't take long to see they weren't just good looking flies either, on the very first outing, the Murray cod loved them too!

Ever since then, they've become one of my go to flies, especially on the back end of this season, and they've stood up to some seriously cracking fish.

I don't mind paying for quality gear, and these are worth every cent. Even after plenty of fish, they still look as good as the day I received them.

While the season is nearly over, I'm super keen to get back out there next year and continue to put them through their paces

24/07/2026

I've been busy out and about chasing fish so that when you book a trip, we can get straight onto them 🤙

My prediction is that the Murray should be fishing well by the second week of August. In the meantime, if you'd like to check out some other spots I've been testing, get in touch and we'll get you onto some fish 🎣

Looking forward to seeing you out on the water soon!

Trent made the trip over to Sunraysia with his partner and little one, keen to experience what Mildura's fishing has to offer 🎣

It didn't take long to see why the region is so highly regarded. Within five minutes, we had a metre plus Murray cod follow the Spinwright Lures Fluffball right to the boat. After a few more follows and missed opportunities, this solid mid-90 cm Murray cod absolutely inhaled the Fluffball at the boat, capping off a fun morning on the water.

Sharing the excitement with visiting anglers and watching everything come together is so much fun!
