Well... THAT wasn't in the tour itinerary! π€£
Yesterday, our Prado "Oi" decided it had enough of the Gunlom corrugations and snapped a steering arm. No worries... we'll just recover it, right?
Wrong! π
At 10pm we headed back down the Gimbat Road with the trailer. Because the front wheel was pointing in completely the wrong direction, it refused to climb onto the trailer. After plenty of head scratching, sweat, and colourful language, we finally rolled back into Jabiru at 3am.
Fast forward to 9am...
βοΈ Ring ring...
Jody: "Umm... we've got another one."
Another Prado. Same road. Same steering arm. π³
So off we went... AGAIN!
The funny part? All FOUR of our tour vehicles were on the Gunlom Road today... but we only had THREE guides! π€¦ββοΈπ
One guide was leading a tour, one was rescuing a broken Prado, and one was rescuing the rescuer!
A massive thank you to our amazing guests for being so patient and taking the adventure in their stride. Sometimes, in Kakadu, the wildlife isn't the only thing that's wild! πππ
Hopefully we've used up all our bad luck for the season... because two broken steering arms in less than 24 hours is a record we'd rather not break! π»
We just wish that the roads could be maintained more regularly, so we can actually show guests the amazing spots within Kakadu (this road is maintained by NT Gov, where as Jim Jim and Maguk maintained by Park Australia)
Some VERY disappointed guests here ATM, as road infrastructure is happening to Jim Jim n Maguk ATM, while the Gimbat Rd is being neglected.
