Change the Australian Government Stimulus Tourism Package

This morning i had a meeting with the member for Eden Monaro, Mr Mike Kelly over my proposed idea of tax incentives in purchasing holiday accommodation. This was after i sent a letter to he and the Minister for Tourism just over a week ago.

Since then MIke has tabled the proposal to others involved in plans to stimulate in Tourism what has been lost for which I understand to be favourable. Mike himself after my meeting then presented the idea to a much larger meeting in Jindabyne.

This will be heading to Parliament this Thursday where we can only hope.

How much will this scheme cost?
So here is how it works. The government will foot a tax revenue loss of 30 to 40c in accomm dollars spent by individuals.

They will, as a result, see a GST return of 10c per dollar spent. They will also get a return from the operators of 30c on profits plus staff working as a result of the stimulus will also pay tax or draw down less on social security.

In that way an amount of $76 million will go a very long way funding thousands of accommodation holidays.
