We’re pretty sure this little sea lion thought the seagrass made the perfect cheeky hiding spot.

Australian Sea Lions are incredibly curious animals, and sometimes an encounter is as simple as watching one quietly investigate its surroundings before suddenly popping up right beside you.

These little moments are some of our favourites — no dramatic action, just a wild animal being completely itself.

For us, it's a pretty special one.

Australian Sea Lions are completely wild, endlessly curious and found nowhere else on Earth. Every encounter is different, and that's what makes spending time in the water with them so unforgettable.

Right now, the colony is in breeding season, so their behaviour can be a little different from what you might expect. But that's part of the magic — we're getting to witness an important chapter in their natural life cycle.

No tricks. No performances. Just wild sea lions, crystal-clear water and a little bit of luck.

It doesn’t always look perfect beneath the surface. And that’s okay. 🦭

Some days the water is clear and blue.

Other days, the swell moves the seagrass around and visibility drops.

But the sea lions are still there.

In fact, these conditions can sometimes create some of our most memorable encounters. With less visibility, a curious sea lion can suddenly appear right beside you — sometimes before you even realise it’s there.

That’s the thing about swimming with wild animals.
You can’t control the conditions. You can’t predict the encounter. And you definitely can’t script what happens next.

You just get in the water and see what the ocean brings. 🌊
