Hi Angela,
I thought I’d let you know about our recent adventures organised by you. First, Turkish Airlines Business Class - BRILLIANT! They are really good to fly with and really looked after us. The food is excellent and there is certainly plenty to eat. On the way over to Rome we did have a 5 hr stopover in Istanbul Airport but that airport is so huge it’s fairly easy to fill the time in while waiting for the next flight.
Secondly, the hotel in Civitevecchia - Hotel de La Ville - also excellent. Lovely hotel naturally very close to the port and the railway station. The port for when we boarded the Queen Victoria and the railway station to return to Rome Central once we finished our cruise.
Thirdly, Queen Victoria Cunard ship - amazing 21 day cruise - on the ship everything was again really great and we were very happy. The Ports and the Excursions were all very, very good except in Marseille but that was a big problem with the guide herself and Cunard have already rebated us and many others for the poor behaviour of the guide. This of course is nothing to do with Cunard but their staff were very good at handling a bunch of quite annoyed and frustrated tourists when we returned to the ship.
Each and every Port and Excursion have clearly been chosen by Cunard because of their own unique stories and histories and great beauty. Greece, Croatia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Malta, Italy, France all just wonderful.
On our return to Civitevecchia then travel to Rome Central you had us booked into the Hotel Della Nazioni which is again a great hotel. In the middle of everything that you want to see in Rome. Very comfortable, breakfasts are great and the location could not be better. The staff are very helpful and made our few days there very easy.
We then went on to Türkiye as you know we had the name of a hotel there - Hotel Henna. Well, it is extraordinary! The lady who is the General Manager of the hotel - Sema - is just the perfect person for the job.
The hotel is again located right in the middle of everything and everywhere you want to go while there. Not a glamorous 5 star but certainly very comfortable and clean and attentive staff who make you feel so welcome. They have a restaurant for dinner and breakfast is upstairs on the rooftop overlooking the Bosphorus Sea. The atmosphere is spectacular. And the food all over Türkiye is amazing. We did an 18 Hr day tour to Gallipoli which was very special for us and because they picked us up at 5.30am and we didn’t get back until about 8.00 pm the hotel packed us two sets of “snacks” and the tour operator provided lunch. The snacks were almost a meal in themselves. The Turkish people go a long way out of their way to help tourists have the best time possible. We were very happy with our five days there. Next door to the Henna Hotel is a cafe called Rumist - they were great there as well and made a very special dinner for us on our last night of traditional Turkish food cooked in a traditional Turkish way. Again, just wonderful.
As you can probably tell, we are very, very happy with the whole trip Angela. Thank you so much for all of your help.
Bob & Christine Patman.
