Good morning from Parnella

For now, the work on the site of our new development on Bruny Island has paused for the summer breeding season so the various bird and wildlife in the region can get on without being interrupted by the sounds and smells of heavy machinery.

Our development permit has given us very strict construction guidelines including the restriction of the use of heavy machinery to the months between March and August.

Quite an impediment but fortunately we are surrounded by optimistic builders and tradies who indicate this won’t be too much of a hindrance.

“It’s just a matter of being organised” they tell us!

So, in the meantime our accommodation property in Kettering is busy with visitors from all over the world making our place their place for the duration of their stay. Nice!

Longer stays seem to be the norm these days with guests wanting to explore more widely and really immerse themselves in our region.

We can use this construction downtime to do some planning around what the new accommodation experience will be for guests.

We are in the process of appointing an executive chef who will assist us with provisioning the new cottage as well as in the selection of extra-culinary treats.

We are also considering exactly how this new property will operate and we believe that direct reservations will be the way to go with some form of orientation before arrival … most likely a video on our YouTube channel.

Our new development on Bruny Island is in an iconic location as the above photograph demonstrates. The red outline is the boundary of our very special 12 acre property and beyond and around us is the South Bruny National Park which contains some amazing scenery. Our closest neighbours are wallabies, echidnas and the amazingly varied birdlife. And you may even spot dolphins or the occasional whale in the waters nearby....

After a long chilly and rather dreary winter Parnella has popped out into a warmer but wetter spring. Everything is green and lush ... even us, after whipper-snippering and mowing our way through the undergrowth. And of course the wildlife is doing its thing all around us. New families are walking, hopping, flapping, slithering and wandering their way around our gardens....
