Did you know winter is one of the best times to walk the Kiama Coast Walk?

The air is crisp, the ocean turns a moody shade of blue and, if you're lucky, you might spot a humpback whale migrating along the coastline.

Stretching over 20 kilometres from Minnamurra River to Werri Beach in Gerringong, the trail takes in some of the region's most iconic sights, including Cathedral Rocks, Bombo Headland, both Blowholes and countless coastal lookouts.

Not up for the full walk? The good news is you can tackle it in sections.

Want to do the whole thing? You can catch the train to Minnamurra and walk south to Gerringong. Then reward yourself with a drink or meal at Gerringong Bowlo and jump on their courtesy bus back towards Kiama (check availability before you go).

Who else caught the Blue Moon earlier this week? 🌕

Despite its name, did you know a Blue Moon isn't actually blue. It's the term used when two full moons occur within the same calendar month, something that only happens every two to three years. That's where the saying "once in a blue moon" comes from!

This year's Blue Moon was even more unusual because it was also a micromoon, meaning it appeared slightly smaller than a typical full moon as it was near its furthest point from Earth.

If you missed it, you'll have a bit of a wait. The next monthly Blue Moon isn't expected until 2028.

Did anyone manage to capture it rising over the Kiama coastline like .rose.photos did? If so, we'd love to see your photos in the comments

Winter has arrived... and honestly, it's looking pretty good from up here❄️

Cathedral Rocks hits a little differently this time of year. The swells are bigger, the crowds are smaller, and if you're lucky, you might even spot a whale breaching along the coastline.

If you're planning a visit, check the tide before you go. Low tide gives you the best chance to explore the rocks from the southern end of Jones Beach, while the Kiama Coast Walk offers some of the best views of Cathedral Rocks without having to detour.

And despite what your weather app says, don't be too quick to cancel on a cloudy day. Some of the most dramatic views happen when the winter skies roll in.

WE DID IT!! THREE IN A ROW ❤️🏆

Kiama has officially been named the WINNER of the NSW Tourism Association NSW Top Tourism Town award for the third year in a row... making us HALL OF FAMERS!

This one feels extra special. Not because of the title itself, but because it reflects the people behind this beautiful town of ours. The cafe owners opening before sunrise. The small businesses backing each other. The tourism operators creating unforgettable visitor experiences. The locals who proudly tell people, “you have to visit Kiama”.

This award belongs to every single person who helps make our little slice of paradise feel so welcoming.

To everyone who voted, shared our posts, cheered us on and continues to support local businesses across the region, thank you. Truly.

Kiama might be known for the Blowholes, beaches and epic scenery, but it’s the people, businesses and community spirit that keep visitors coming back again and again.

What a town. What a community. We’re so very, very proud💙

Turns out the Kiama region is just as much a holiday destination for dogs as it is for humans 🐾

From off-leash runs and ocean lookouts to coastal cafés and winery afternoons, there are plenty of ways to bring your furry friend along for the adventure.

A few local favourites include Black Head Reserve, Bombo Headland & Dog Agility Park, Gerringong Headland, Kaleula Head Reserve, Marsden Head and Minnamurra Headland.

And if your plans include accommodation that isn’t pet friendly, a long lunch or a day out exploring, Gerringong Pet Accommodation and Home Services offers boarding, daycare and even a pet taxi service so your pup can enjoy their own little holiday too. Honestly, the dogs in this video might be having a better time than the humans 🐶

Just a friendly reminder to check local signage, keep dogs on leash where required and pick up after your pets while out and about.
