Don’t want to spend all day on a wine tour? Are you just visiting the Hunter Valley for an afternoon or morning? We’ve got you sorted with our Half-Day Delights tour.

Winter is an ideal time to pay a visit to the Hunter Valley. The vineyards are being pruned so that they are ready for the next harvest.

It is a great opportunity to rug up and come wine tasting without the draining Summer heat. Many wineries and cellar doors offer tastings of warming fortified wines such as ports, liqueurs and distillery products. Don’t forget to pack a warm jacket, temperatures can fall to 5 degrees overnight!

Most people have heard that it’s a good idea to swirl wine before tasting it, but do you know why that is?

When you swirl your wine, hundreds of aromas are released. They are able to attach themselves to oxygen molecules so they become easier to smell. The best way to do this is to swirl for 10 seconds. That way you can fully release all the aromas within the wine.

We are still operating tours from Newcastle & the Hunter in line with COVID guidelines. All tours from Sydney have been cancelled or postponed.

It’s very common to see kangaroos in the Hunter Valley, especially if you're out on our full day or afternoon half-day yours.

Keep an eye out for them, especially if you are in Lovedale or driving past the fields alongside McDonalds Road.

They are normally asleep in the middle of the day, and active in the morning and evenings.
