I just realised I forgot to share photos of the finished Isabella. Guest’s have been admiring the result for the last month. The hidden treasure - the stunning original weatherboards from 1895, restored to perfection after removing the 1976 vinyl cladding.

Isabella is starting to look a bit better. They cleaned off the dirt to show the old green paint and are puttying and sanding. Replacing some of the boards but mainly one section at the back. Soon to be a lovely shade of creamy/ white Hogs Bristle

Today at Isabella at Kyneton we commence the removal of the vinyl cladding that has been covering the original Baltic pine weatherboards from 1895. We are so excited to restore the outside to its original state. The story goes that the cladding was put on more than 50 years ago when a very pushy salesman sat in the lounge for 6 hours until the then owner signed the contract to have it installed.

The next step in our improvements at Isabella at Kyneton. The roof and solar panels thoroughly cleaned, iron roof nailed and rescrewed and repainted in cottage green. The painters said our roof was made of solid old iron and will continue to last for a long time yet. Not bad for the old girl at 130 plus years old. Check out these before and after photos. A new front door handle has been installed at Isabella at Kyneton marking the beginning of a series of planned improvements over the next six weeks. At 135 years old these changes will help preserve its charm and character for years to come.

Excellent in Every Way - Loved everything about the Isabella, traditional home, very clean, excellent breakfast, location and outdoor space. Was perfect for our stay. Would highly recommend. Ian gave us a score of 10/10. When you book though, book directly through our website instead of the online travel agents as is cheaper and you will also receive a complimentary local gourmet platter and bottle of wine!
