Today 31st December 2020 is the one year anniversary of the devastating Karawan bushfire on the South Coast of NSW. In the Lake Conjola community where our house is, approx. 100 homes and 7 lives were lost and many forever changed. While we were not here at the time, there were families staying in our house and they just escaped when the fire hit the surrounding bush. The few neighbours that were left, courageously fought the fire at our house. They knew they could not save it, but needed to stop neighbouring houses to the west from being destroyed. Apart from damage to the next door property, the fire was halted at this point. We sincerely appreciate the effort and bravery of our neighbours.

One year on, we are in the process of rebuilding, with our son Nathan, his business partner Mitch and their team (Woodhouse Projects) doing the job. Progress to date see’s the frame almost complete and part of the roof installed. Much work to be done, with the projected completion date May 2021.
