A bit of an update on the Tailored treks tours and beach driving lessons.

This season I tried something different and blocked off most the afternoon sessions concentrating on mornings. Previous years we were ducking between late nights and early mornings, blocking off each corresponding overnight / morning session.

I have to say it's been so much more successful, especially for the younger and inexperienced who always struggle to manage line well in a howling Lancelin sea breeze.

I have made the change permanent on the web site now. Also switched the 4wd lessons to afternoon. As we have been booked out up to 10 weeks in advance for fishing. With the change we can now take forward booking for afternoon 4wd sessions without waiting weeks for the slot 👍

As for the experienced crew who like to chase the big mulloway over the winter months. Just contact me directly and we can try tee up an evening between the passing storms. As with last year no pre bookings available June and July. just short notice trips when the weather permits.

June and July can be unreliable for our beach fishing tours, weather fronts pass through frequently and tailor take a few days to move back in between storms. Last year we had to cancel a lot of forward booked tours. We are trying something different this year, I have the booking page open for our beach driving lessons. I am not taking forward bookings for fishing tours, they need to be booked at short notice, when we can see what the weather is offering. You can contact me to see what is upcoming weather wise or follow the page for any updates.

So far June has started well with a number of tours scoring mulloway and mixed tailor catches. Weekend past was fantastic weather and clean beaches to fish, I even got to cast a few lures Monday morning. Very impressed to do a 4wd lesson Sunday with the customer bringing a 500hp AMG G Wagon 😆

We have not been too active on social media, a post to remind you we are still doing tours and a big Thank you to all our customers who have kept us so busy. We have been very busy on the fishing tours and booked out weeks to months ahead. Hence not much advertising to avoid disappointment for those who want a last minute booking. We still spend 2 -3 days a week working at our farm, that will change latter this year making room for more fishing tours 😁

Its certainly been the summer of snapper, all off the cast! They have been so reliable on the morning sessions we haven't even felt the need to use the drone. Fighting a fish off the cast a much more rewarding experience. Some customers lucky enough to have a school come in and catch up to a dozen or more. Now we are looking forward to the autumn / winter of Mulloway 😁

I have not advertised for a while, most weekends I am busy but still have availability midweek for those who can take advantage weekdays. It’s a great time to get up the beach out of school holidays when there’s hardly anyone else around. We are coming into prime time of year to enjoy mornings casting lures to large tailor. I have not been pushing the drone side on our fishing tours. A number of people have made inquiries. We take the drone with us most days when the weather is kind, though with larger groups we can't keep a lot of rods out or fit all the extra gear in. There is no extra charge its just part of what we do in a normal tour.

As always our name is 'Tailored' treks so any special request for a drone only tour no problem. Just let us know what you want to get out of the day. Tailor were certainly going off over the school holiday period. Lots of tailor on the lures, customers were really enjoying the challenge of getting a good size fish on a lure. It's something we have been trying to include in most our tours as well as dropping a few baits off the drone when weather permits.

Unfortunately then I ended up with a bit of an extended stay in hospital, I am out now and all is well. I just need to take things slowly for a little bit. So have stopped taking new bookings for at least a few weeks. I hope to get out and have a cast or two myself, to make sure i am match fit in the next week or so and get a few more tests to be sure i am good to go. Trust me to go and do this at one of the best fishing times of year, hanging out to go get em and see you on the beach soon.

It's been a great school holidays, lots of family groups been getting into chopper tailor, herring and dart in the mornings. Our family friendly pricing makes an affordable family day out. Children under 16 are half price, non fishers welcome to tag along for free and we usually cut back through the dunes for an adventure on the way home.

Afternoon sessions can be problematic this time of year with strong sea breezes, though if you pick a good day there's always a chance of some larger fish. If the weather suits we have been dropping a few baits out wide from the drone, recent weeks has seen a lot more pink snapper picking up the baits.

I haven't taken a lot of pictures, if a groups happy to take their own I leave them to it and concentrate on the fishing.

As we always say you can 'tailor' the day to suit your needs, each booking is exclusive to you and your group. We offer Kayak fishing, beach and sand dune driving/ lessons, drone fishing, beach fishing and tuition.

It has been very surprizing in how many people have decided to fish regularly with us. Finding the ease and convenience of just rocking up and having all the gear rigged and ready to go. Then leaving us with the mess at the end of the day with some clean bags of fillets and stories to tell. As a thankyou we now discount for repeat customers, with a 10% off voucher the next booking. No worries if you fished with us prior to the vouchers, the 10% will still be valid on your next visit.

Each customer who does a 4WD beach driving lesson with us, now also gets a booklet on beach driving as well. Something to leave in the recovery kit that encompasses all the information from the day, it can be a lot to soak in on the day so a bit of a information reminder next time you are on the beach.
