It’s been a little while since our last update on the latest situation in the Middle East, so I thought I’d check in about what’s currently happening and what it means for travel.

What’s happening in travel right now?
At the moment, travel is largely continuing as normal, particularly outside of the Middle East.

Airlines aren’t cancelling flights due to fuel shortages, as they tend to secure their supplies well in advance. While the Strait of Hormuz is often mentioned in the news, it accounts for roughly 20% of global oil supply, with the majority sourced elsewhere.

Historically, even during previous periods of conflict, airlines have continued to operate. What we are seeing instead is schedule adjustments, capacity changes, and in some cases increased services where demand remains strong.

It’s also worth noting that airline pricing is dynamic. This means that airfare quotes are not guaranteed until the booking is paid in full and ticketed. Fares can change at any time, and fuel costs are factored into pricing. I recommend locking in pricing when you’re comfortable, rather than waiting too long and risking an increase.

For my upcoming travellers
If you have any upcoming travel plans, or are simply keeping an eye on things, please know I’m here to help you navigate any questions or concerns.

Situations like this can still lead to changes, and every booking is a little different. If you’d like me to review anything for you or simply talk through your options, just let me know.

There’s a lot of information out there, and it’s not always clear what matters. I’m in your corner to help makes sense of it and support you. This can make a real difference, especially when you’ve worked hard and waited patiently for your next adventure. All I want you to have to worry about is whether to pack your pink or yellow shirt.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. And if you know anyone who could use guidance with their travel plans, please send them my way.

Take care,

Tanya

I am aware of the recent developments in the Middle East and the resulting impact on airspace and commercial flight operations in parts of the region. I understand this ongoing situation might be causing concern, especially among travellers flying to or via this region. I would like to reassure you that I am actively monitoring this fluid situation, and staying closely informed as events unfold.

If you are travelling within the next 72 hours, I will be in direct contact with you should your booking be impacted or if any action is required.

If your travel is scheduled beyond the next 72 hours, I kindly ask for your patience while I prioritise assisting clients with imminent departures. I will continue to monitor developments and will reach out if the situation changes in a way that affects your travel plans.

In the meantime, I recommend reviewing DFAT’s SmartTraveller website for the most up-to-date official travel advice. This will provide the latest government guidance to help you make informed decisions regarding your travel.

Thank you for your understanding. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any immediate concerns.

Are you a dual Citizen of the UK or Ireland ?

Australian-British or Australian-Irish dual citizens must enter the UK on their British or Irish passport or through a certificate of entitlement in another valid passport. These dual citizens are unable to obtain an ETA or visa to enter the UK. Dual citizens may not be able to board a flight to the UK without a valid document. The UK Government has advised these requirements will be strictly enforced from 25 February.

These rules are also in place for the USA and Canada .
