A milestone birthday in late July, and Iceland sounded like just the place I’d love to be! 🇮🇸
Snorkelling at Silfra in Þingvellir National Park topped the bucket list, and booking the very first slot of the morning to float between tectonic plates felt like a pretty special way to start 60! 🥳
Dry suits aren’t the most comfortable on land, but once you plunge into the clearest water imaginable, you’re completely blown away. Despite the 2–4°C year-round temperature, we stayed surprisingly warm during the 45-minute drift.
While you can’t actually touch Europe and North America at the exact same time on the route, floating through this massive fissure with over 100 metres of visibility is an incredible, weightless experience.
Two quick tips if you go:
⏱️ Book the first slot: Avoid the long lines of people waiting around on land in heavy dry suits.
🦟 Pack a midge net: The July bugs were out in full force by the lake!
If this is an adventure you’d love to try, get in touch! 🇮🇸

Flåmsbana + Rallarvegen — The Best of Both 🚲🇳🇴
Pictures taken from the train ride.
Want the Rallarvegen experience without cycling the full route? This is the perfect option! 😍
Take the iconic Flåmsbana up to the zip line, then jump on a bike for a shorter 18 km ride back to Flåm.
The scenery is spectacular — rushing rivers, waterfalls at every turn and those incredible mountain views. And the best part? No long tunnels! 🙌
A couple of tips as seating on the Flamsbana train isn’t assigned:
⬆️ Uphill: sit on the RIGHT for the best views.
⬇️ Downhill: sit on the LEFT.
You’ll see the famous Finse switchbacks from the train. You skip riding that section on this shorter option.
One I’d definitely recommend if the full Rallarvegen ride feels a little too much. 🇳🇴

🐴🇮🇸 Icelandic Horse Special Moment.

By our second last day in Iceland, I was starting to worry I wouldn’t get the chance to have a close encounter with these special Icelandic beauties.
Although you see them everywhere as you travel around the island, it’s not always easy to find a safe place to pull over.
Then, while exploring the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, we stumbled across this spot at Grundarfjordur— and look who we were greeted by… 🐴
The walk to the waterfall takes you through a farm gate where the horses graze. I didn’t even make it to the waterfall — the horses had my full attention!
This was one experience I had really hoped for while in Iceland and so happy we found them.
A few things I learnt about them .
🐴
• They have remained a pure breed for over 1,000 years, dating back to the Vikings who first brought them to Iceland.
• No other horse breeds are allowed to be imported into Iceland, helping preserve their unique bloodline.
• Once an Icelandic horse leaves Iceland, it can never return, protecting the island’s horses from disease.

Our Day at Hvammsvik situated roughly an hour from Reykjavík, Hvammsvik sits in a spectacular natural landscape, completely removed from the usual tourist crowds and tour buses. If you only have time for one authentic geothermal soak near the capital, make Hvammsvik your top priority.
