Great news for travellers.

The Australian Government has lowered its travel advice for parts of the Middle East from Level 4, Do Not Travel, to Level 3, Reconsider Your Need to Travel.

For many travellers, this means travel insurance may now be valid again when transiting through Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi.

As always, check your policy carefully to understand your level of cover.

One of the biggest wildlife travel mistakes?

Travelling at the wrong time.

Even the most incredible destination can be disappointing if you visit when the wildlife you're hoping to see simply isn't there.

Animal movements, migrations, breeding seasons and weather patterns all play a huge role in what you'll experience.

That's why timing is often just as important as choosing the destination itself.

Whether it's witnessing a bird migration, seeing whale calves alongside their mothers, or finding a rare species found nowhere else on Earth, being there at the right time can make all the difference.

When planning wildlife travel, don't just ask yourself, "Where should I go?" Ask, "When should I go and what do I want to see?"

For me, one wildlife event I'd love to witness is seeing fluffy penguin chicks in Antarctica. Timing the voyage to coincide with the breeding season would make all the difference between seeing nesting adults and watching colonies full of curious young chicks.

Whether it's seeing marine iguanas in the Galápagos, spotting lemurs in Madagascar, or watching a bird of paradise display deep in the forests of Papua New Guinea, these moments often become the highlight of a journey.

What makes wildlife experiences so special is that no two encounters are ever the same. Every sighting feels unique, and often the most memorable moments are the ones you never expected.
