Small ship expedition cruising met Melbourne tonight! 🌊🐧

An evening with Heritage Expeditions, a family owned and operated expedition company taking small ships into remote corners of the world.

Their 2027 British Isles, Ireland & Scotland and Scotland, Faroe Islands & Iceland expeditions caught my attention on their refurbished Heritage Discoverer.

Think remote islands, dramatic coastlines, seabirds, marine wildlife and puffins in the wild 🐧 - who doesn‘t love puffins.

If puffins, wildlife and wild places are calling, send me a message or email [email protected]
I’d love to help you explore the 2027 options. 🌊

Sometimes people think my passion is wildlife, diving or birding.

The truth is, it all starts with nature.

I love wide open landscapes, fresh air and escaping the crowds. Put me on a mountain trail, in a rainforest or exploring a quiet national park, and I'm happy.

Nature has a way of slowing us down. It encourages us to notice more, and that's why I love wildlife, marine and birding adventures. They help us connect with a place, not just visit it.

We travel this way as a family too. Travelling with our 10 year old daughter means finding experiences we can all enjoy, and seeing her excitement when she spots wildlife is every bit as rewarding as my own.

That's why I encourage travellers to spend longer in a destination. When you slow down, you experience so much more.

🌿 If you're looking for a holiday that helps you reconnect with nature, I'd love to help you plan it. Send me a message or email [email protected].

When the South Pacific gives you more places to explore 🌊🏝️

Apparently, I have a lot more Pacific islands to put on my travel list.

Last night I attended Treasures of the South Pacific, meeting tourism boards, discovering new destinations and catching up with some great industry partners.

After recently returning from Samoa, I am very keen to keep exploring the lesser known corners of the Pacific.

Just a few that caught my attention:

🐋 Tonga, humpback whales and underwater adventures
🐠 Solomon Islands, incredible marine biodiversity and diving
🐢 Niue, crystal clear waters, reefs, turtles and rays
🌿 Norfolk Island, birdlife, coastline and marine experiences
🌊 Palau, world class diving and a strong focus on marine conservation and sustainable tourism

And this is exactly why I enjoy these industry events.

It is not just about learning which hotels are available. It is about understanding who a destination is actually suited to, what experiences you can have there and whether it will be the right fit for my client.

Because booking a trip is one thing.
Matching the right traveller with the right destination is where the fun really starts.

Thinking about exploring a different part of the South Pacific? 🌊🌴
There is so much more beyond the usual favourites, from wildlife and birding to diving, hiking, culture and remote island adventures.

Let’s find the destination that fits the way you like to travel.
Send an email to [email protected] as I might know a few places to start.

And yes, apparently I was quite surprised by just how many places are still on my list. 😂

I've always enjoyed visiting zoos.

Not just because I could see animals I would never encounter at home, but because they made me curious.

What would it be like to see these animals where they truly belong?

That curiosity has shaped the way I travel.
One of my favourite parts of any wildlife journey is waking up and not knowing what the day will bring.

Driving through a national park in Sri Lanka, scanning the landscape for elephants and leopards. Exploring Yellowstone, hoping to spot a bear, wolf or bison.
Walking quietly through the forest, listening for birds before you even see them.
It's the anticipation that makes wildlife travel so exciting.

No two days are ever the same, and every sighting feels like a privilege because nature doesn't work to a schedule.

Those unexpected moments are often the ones we remember forever.

Whether your dream is seeing elephants, bears, penguins or birds in their natural habitat, I'd love to help you plan a journey around those experiences. Get in touch and let's start planning. Send an email to [email protected]

In the final part of this series, I'll share why nature itself is at the heart of every journey I plan.

Have you ever heard of Club Med? 🌴

I have to admit, I LOVE Club Med.

Sometimes you do not need a big adventure, a packed itinerary or weeks away. Sometimes you just need to take a break and let the soul do its thing. 💙

And right now, there is a fantastic offer with Singapore Airlines for Club Med in Bintan or Phuket.

✈️ Looking for a quick 5 day getaway?

🌴 Sunshine
🏝️ Resort time
🍽️ Great food

😌 And very little planning required

If you are ready for a little reset, send me an email [email protected] and let’s lock in your getaway.

Because sometimes, five days is all you need to come back feeling like yourself again. 🌿

🐼 Would you travel to China to see giant pandas?

For many travellers, seeing a giant panda is high on the wish list.

And yes, giant pandas still live in the wild. But they are incredibly elusive, so for most visitors to China, seeing one in its natural habitat is very unlikely.

That is why conservation and research centres are important.

In Chengdu, you can visit the "Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding" and learn more about these fascinating animals, as well as the research, conservation, breeding and education work surrounding them.

For me, this is an interesting part of wildlife travel.

Not every wildlife experience has to mean seeing an animal in the wild. Sometimes it is about visiting a reputable centre, learning about a species and understanding the work being done to protect it.

And China is so much more than pandas.

I have now travelled to China twice, and it is definitely a country I would return to again. It is huge, with such diverse landscapes, fascinating culture, incredible food and so much wildlife to discover.

In fact, another trip is already on the cards.

This time, we will be heading into the mountainous regions, with their stunning snow capped mountains and rich local culture. I am particularly looking forward to the wildlife we might encounter along the way, from yaks to some of the region’s birdlife.

That is what I love about travel. You can return to a country you have already visited and discover a completely different side of it.

🐼 Would seeing giant pandas be enough to put Chengdu on your travel list?

Or perhaps the mountains, wildlife, food and culture would tempt you even more?

Send me a message if China is on your travel wish list. I’d love to help you explore the possibilities.

🇨🇦 This itinerary just caught my eye, and I thought I’d better share it with you!

Because honestly, it has so many of the things I love about travel.

🦌 Wildlife
🏔️ Mountains
🚆 Slow travel, especially by rail
🇨🇦 A little culture
🥐 And plenty of great food along the way

Canada by rail, mountains, wildlife and French Canadian charm

Imagine starting your journey surrounded by the mountains of the Canadian Rockies, travelling through Banff and Jasper, watching for wildlife and soaking up those incredible alpine landscapes.

Then climb aboard the Rocky Mountaineer before crossing Canada on VIA Rail’s Canadian.

Next stop, Niagara Falls, where you can experience the power of one of Canada’s most famous natural sights. 💦

From there, the journey continues into French Canada, with time in Montreal and Quebec City. Think historic streets, French Canadian culture, beautiful architecture and plenty of delicious food.

🚂 Rocky Mountaineer
🏔️ Banff and Jasper National Parks
🦌 Wildlife and nature
🚆 VIA Rail’s Canadian
💦 Niagara Falls
🇨🇦 Montreal and Quebec City

What I particularly like about this itinerary is that it brings together nature, wildlife, rail travel, culture and adventure, without trying to cram everything into a whirlwind trip.

And this is just the starting point.

Want more time in the Rockies? Add a wildlife experience? Stay longer in Quebec? Perhaps add a few extra days somewhere to simply relax?

This journey can be fully customised around you.

If this sounds like your kind of Canada, send me a message or email me at [email protected] and I’ll send you the itinerary.

And if you like the idea of Canada but this itinerary isn't quite right, that's no problem either.

Let's create a Canadian journey that is right for you. 🇨🇦

I've always had a huge respect for the ocean.

From the surface it can look calm and endless, but beneath it is an entirely different world.

Learning to dive opened up that world for me.

Every dive is different. One day you're drifting over colourful coral gardens. The next, a sea turtle glides past, or a reef shark appears in the distance.

I still remember my very first reef shark encounter. Even though it was calmly cruising by, I was scared. Looking back now, it's one of the moments that made me fall even more in love with the ocean.

It's never been about adrenaline.

It's about slowing down, observing and appreciating what's happening beneath the surface.

The more time I've spent underwater, the more I've come to appreciate how important healthy oceans are, and how fortunate we are to experience them.

That's why marine travel has become such a big part of what I do. I love helping travellers discover destinations where the underwater world is just as captivating as the landscapes above.

🐢 Dreaming of colourful reefs, sea turtles, or your next diving or snorkelling holiday? I'd love to help you find the destination that's right for you - email [email protected] to start planning your next marine adventure.

Part 3 is coming later this week, where I'll share why the excitement of seeing wildlife in its natural habitat never gets old.
