A quick note for clients travelling via the UAE or Qatar…

If you have upcoming flights transiting this region, I completely understand that news like this can feel unsettling.

At this stage, none of my clients are currently in the area, which is reassuring. Airlines and insurance providers have released guidance for those travelling within the next few days, and I am monitoring all updates closely.

For clients travelling later in the year, it is simply too early to predict what the situation may look like. For now, the best approach is to sit tight while we wait for further official advice.

Please be assured that as soon as I receive any relevant updates, I will contact any clients whose travel plans could potentially be affected.

October is CLIA Cruise Month!! Do you ?? Because I certainly do!! I have personally sailed with P&O, Celebrity and Norwegian CruiseLines and have also done ship inspections on other lines - PLUS being a CLIA member gives me access to continuously updated training to keep me up to date with everything at sea!!
There is literally no better time to book a cruise than Cruise Month - I have so many specials. Literally too many to post, in fact. But this week is OCEAN week. So if you are loving the idea of a fun-filled holiday where you unpack once and see multiple cities, have tons to do, food and drink options out the w***o and would like to book with a travel agent for the same (or BETTER) rates than you would get direct - give me a shout!!!

Avoiding Jetlag!

Sometimes it seems inevitable. You're flying the "wrong way" around the world, you can't sleep on flights, so there's nothing you can do, right? WRONG!! Have a look at my top tips!

On the flight:
avoid alcohol - yes I know, sometimes a red wine might seem like a good idea to get you to sleep, maybe even two? NO!! This is NOT a good plan!
avoid caffeine - so should I try to stay awake then? Still NO!
hydrate!!!! This is why alcohol and caffeine are both bad choices, you want to be hydrated! Take water when the flight attendant's offer it, buy a bottle of water at the gate. Even better, have a hydralyte either on the plane, before you fly or when you land.
sleep - don't worry about the time. Just try to fall asleep when you can. Get comfy, watch a movie you've seen before and try to doze. Even if you don't properly fall asleep, rest is your friend!!
After your flight:
No naps! No matter what time you arrive in your destination, DO NOT NAP! This will only throw your body's rhythm even further out of whack. You need to STAY AWAKE now until bedtime. Early bedtime is fine, but have dinner and don't go to sleep until after dark.
Hydrate. I've said it before, I'll say it again! Half of jet lag is actually just being tired and dehydrated. Drink. Some. Water!
And look, it is what it is. Even with my tips, jet lag happens. Have I fallen asleep sitting up with a glass of water in my hand and tipped it all over myself? Yes. Have I been so tired I started to brush my teeth with first aid cream instead of toothpaste? Yes. But is it worth it? ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!
