Maintaining a 4.85 star rating across both properties. We have had over 400 reviews just on air bnb and host across multiple platforms. Sunny season is here!!!

The Cataract Gorge's popular First Basin Swimming Pool has opened to the public today, with the Lilydale Swimming Pool set to open on Friday, December 1.

Lifeguards from the City of Launceston Leisure & Aquatic Centre will supervise the First Basin Swimming Pool from December 1, between 11am and 4pm each day.

Lifeguards will also supervise the Lilydale Swimming Pool from December 1, between 3pm and 6pm on weekdays, and between 2pm and 6pm on weekends and public holidays.

Launceston Mayor Matthew Garwood encouraged residents and visitors to take advantage of the pools to cool off this summer.

"There are plenty of options to cool off this summer, whether it's at the City of Launceston Leisure & Aquatic Centre, the First Basin Swimming Pool or the Lilydale Swimming Pool," Mayor Garwood said.

"The First Basin and Lilydale Swimming Pools are fantastic free options for swimming, providing a safe aquatic environment which people of all ages can utilise for leisure, recreation, and fitness.

"No matter where you're swimming it's important to be conscious of your safety and the safety of those around you.

"Remember to keep children six years and under within reach, and actively supervise children under eleven at all times.

"Please follow any directions from our lifeguards and be considerate of others.

"We hope the Launceston community makes the most of these great swimming facilities, and that everyone enjoys the summer weather ahead."

LAUNNIE'S FAVOURITE POOLS OPEN FOR SUMMER: The Cataract Gorge's popular First Basin Swimming Pool has opened to the public.

Lifeguards from the City of Launceston Leisure & Aquatic Centre will supervise the pool daily between 11am and 4pm for the duration of the summer school holidays, except for Christmas Day.

When school returns in February, lifeguard supervision will revert to between 11am and 4pm on weekends.

Following upgrades to its heating system, the Lilydale Swimming Pool will open to the public from December 31.

The Lilydale Swimming Pool will be open daily between 2pm and 6pm, with lifeguard supervision courtesy of the LAC.

When school returns, the pool will be open between 3pm and 6pm on weekdays.

Mayor Danny Gibson thanked City of Launceston crews for getting the First Basin Swimming Pool open, following repeated flooding in the Cataract Gorge throughout 2022.

"We've seen the pool inundated a number of times by floodwaters throughout the year and this created a number of challenges in getting the First Basin Swimming Pool open to the public," Mayor Gibson said.

"We know this particular pool is an extremely popular attraction, and I'm pleased City of Launceston crews have been able to prioritise the work required in order to open the pool ahead of Christmas for the public to enjoy."

Mayor Gibson is encouraging community members to swim safely this summer.

"No matter where you swim this summer, be conscious of your safety and the safety of those around you - remember that alcohol and water never mix, keep children six years and under within arms' reach, and actively supervise children under eleven,” he said.

"Swimming is an extremely popular past time in Launceston, and we hope everyone dives into a fun and safe summer in the water."
