Wildflower etiquette!
There are a few simple rules to follow when wandering the wildflower offerings on show this spring.
Canola may not be a natural wildflower spectacle but the golden flower heads spanning acres are often stopped at for a photo opportunity.
Rule #1
Stay on your side of the fence and do not risk the wrath of an irate farmer by trampling into his crop to surround yourself with yellow! You may also find yourself surrounded by a pack of sheep dogs wanting to practise their mustering!
Rule #1(a) applies to Canola`s native cousins and trampling your way into a nest of everlastings for a photo opportunity is just not on, even if you are a blonde-haired stunner doing a fashion shoot in a flimsy summer frock and a colourful picnic blanket!
Please stick to recognised trails.
Rule #2
Fields of flowing flowers along roadsides can slow you down when travelling in “Wildflower Country” but you do not own the road and need to be courteous of other road users. Use your mirrors, safely pull over if you need to, or can, and let others less relaxed pass you.
You may feel “remote” but trust me, you are not!
Rule #3
Leave no trace, if you feel the need to pick something, make it your nose and not the flowers!
Rule #4
Stick to Rules 1, 1a, 2 and 3 and we can all enjoy the spring spectacle.
