The recent snowfalls on the Stelvio Pass, followed by the rise of the temperatures, are increasing the risk of avalanches. The Giro d'Italia organization, in order to safeguard the safety of the Carovana Rosa, has therefore decided to change the route of the 16th stage of the Giro d'Italia, Livigno-Santa Cristina Val Gardena/St. Christina in Gröden (Monte Pana). The lenght of the stage will be 206 km.

The Cima Coppi, which was previously the Stelvio, now becomes the Giogo di Santa Maria/Umbrailpass at 2489 m.

Le recenti nevicate sul Passo dello Stelvio e il successivo aumento delle temperature stanno facendo crescere il rischio di slavine. L'organizzazione del Giro d'Italia, per salvaguardare la sicurezza della Carovana Rosa, ha deciso quindi di modificare il percorso della 16^ tappa del Giro d'Italia, Livigno-Santa Cristina Val Gardena/St. Christina in Gröden (Monte Pana), che passerà da 202 a 206 km.

La Cima Coppi, che in precedenza era lo Stelvio, adesso diventa il Giogo di Santa Maria/Umbrailpass a quota 2489 m.

Stelvio Pass will be centre stage again at the 2024 Giro d' Italia. The 16th stage on 21 May will start in Livigno, go through Bormio then up and down Passo Stelvio and will conclude in Val Gardena.
