Egeria The ML Egeria is a classic antique vessel built from Huon Pine and Teak in 1941. Catering and beverages may also be arranged by request.

The Motor Yacht Club of Tasmania is home to the ML Egeria, a classic antique vessel built from Huon Pine and Teak in 1941. The 18.9 metre "Egeria" served as a Naval Auxiliary launch during World War 2 and is now available for charter. The Egeria has since carried many distinguished guests including visiting royalty and Tasmanian Governors. Authentically presented, the Egeria is a unique part of the River Derwent heritage and is available for a range of charters whether it be transporting you on your special day, a birthday trip or a private meeting with business partners. Pick up locations for guests include; Bellerive Wharf, Waterman's Dock or Kings Pier. Prices are subject to charter duration and requirements. ‘Egeria’ was the subject for an interesting article, by well renowned maritime author John Quirk, in the September edition of the AFLOAT magazine that is circulated in hard copy throughout Australia and may also be viewed on the web.

On Saturday for the official opening of the 2026 - 2027 Yachting Season her Excellency, the Honourable Caroline Wells, AC, Governor of Tasmania, Commodore-In-Chief of the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania will take the salute from ‘Egeria’ moored in Sullivan’s Cove. This will be her first time onboard ‘Egeria’ that is still referred to as ‘The Governor’s Launch’.

Unfortunately there wasn’t an official Guinness Book of Records timekeeper available this morning to confirm that the world record to anti foul a 65 foot boat was broken. Will have to wait another 12 months. Back in the water early in the morning ready for first cruise on Sunday. If contemplating a trip sometime over the next six months now would be a good time to make a booking- just contact the Motor Yacht Club of Tasmania.

Further to the last post which shows ‘Egeria’ being lifted out of the water, she had a bottom scrubbed and took onboard her new life raft.

This morning, to prepare for the coming charter season, ‘Egeria’ travelled to Clean Lift in Prince of Wales Bay where she was lifted out of the water for maintenance and survey. Looking good for an 85 year old!

Yesterday Egeria embarked a group representing the Derwent Valley Council, the Derwent Valley & Central Highlands Tourism Association and the New Norfolk Regatta for a trip from Lindisfarne upriver to New Norfolk. The purpose was to explore options for future cruises to not only take in the scenery but to enjoy what else the Valley has to offer. So watch this space
