of the year, or the purity of the rainfall. Or maybe it's a combination of all these things. Truth is, no one is really sure. But what we do know is this. For the Fox family in Pemberton, farming is more than a profession, it is generations of early mornings, changing seasons, shared knowledge and a deep connection to the land they call home.

Michael and Kaye Fox have spent decades building the family orchard, alongside sons Mat and Trent, continuing the family legacy while embracing the changes needed for modern farming and the next generation ahead.

It’s families like the Foxs who help give the Southern Forests its character, producing quality produce while keeping the region’s rich farming history alive. 🍏

There’s something special about gathering around the table in the Southern Forests as the evenings turn cooler, and this upcoming evening at Pemberley of Pemberton is shaping up to be one for the wine lovers. 🍷✨

Pemberley’s exclusive Chardy Party is a rare chance to explore the depth, character and evolution of one of the Southern Forests Wine region’s standout varieties, with guests invited to taste through an incredible line-up of nine Chardonnay vintages spanning from 2008 through to the yet-to-be-released 2025 vintage.

Alongside the tastings, guests will settle in for a seasonal two-course dinner featuring Pemberley farm produce and local offerings, celebrating the flavours, stories and connections that make this region so distinctive.

With limited tickets available, this intimate gathering is expected to fill quickly.

There’s something special about autumn in the Southern Forests, and the Wine, Pizza & Truffle Palooza upcoming event is a perfect excuse to experience it for yourself.

On Saturday, 23 May, Deitos Vineyard Wines opens its doors for a day celebrating local flavour, craftsmanship and connection to place. From 10am, enjoy complimentary wine tastings, including their renowned Pinot and Chardonnay, and hear directly from Fabio the winemaker about the journey from vine to glass.

As the afternoon rolls in, the woodfired oven takes centre stage. From 2:30pm, authentic Italian-style pizzas will be available, crafted with care and topped with seasonal ingredients. For those wanting to take it up a notch, freshly harvested Manjimup black truffle can be added, bringing that unmistakable depth of flavour straight from the region’s soils.

It’s a relaxed, flavour-filled day that brings together wine, food and the people behind it, all in one place.

Feijoa season is here!

Feijoas are back in season across the Southern Forests, bringing that unmistakable burst of flavour that only comes around once a year. Think tropical, aromatic and just a little unexpected, a natural mix of pineapple, guava and a hint of mint that somehow works perfectly.

Crack one open and you’ll find soft, spoonable flesh inside, juicy, fragrant and ready to eat straight from the skin (arguably the best way, no fuss required).

In the kitchen, feijoas don’t sit still for long. They shine in crumbles and cakes, lift a simple salad, and add a fresh twist to chutneys or cocktails. Sweet or savoury, they’re one of those ingredients that quietly steal the show.

Now in season and ready to enjoy, you’ll find feijoas at local greengrocers and farm gate stalls throughout the region.
