Passing on knowledge working with horse herds in The Kimberley terrain, we have put together a program helping young station hands assess their horses, develop their skills and keeping themselves, other ringers and their horses safe and sound for the mustering season ahead. Thanks Shaggy and Kayla from Argyle Downs for having us!

Thanks to Andrew and Brooke O’Kane from Carlton Hill Station, for once again giving us the opportunity to run their shoeing clinic for the 2026 mustering crew. The men and women did an awesome job! These 2 day clinics that Christian hosts, help set the crew up to shoe safely, efficiently and help look after their horse’s feet for the long days ahead on the station.

We have been inundated with messages regarding purchasing horses & we can understand why, we have an amazing herd of horses that have taken us 18 years of breeding to have! However, Please be aware they will not be available for purchase until April of 2027.

Condition of purchase when the time comes:

1. They will only be sold to approved and appropriate homes, it’s not first in best dressed! Priority will be given to riders who have ridden these horses and have formed a partnership
2. Anyone expressing interest in a horse just because of colour will be disregarded
3. We won’t be selling these horses to novice riders
4. We won’t be selling site unseen
5. Please consider where they have come from, we can’t guarantee they are going to make champion pony club horses, dressage horses or Warwick Gold Cup winners, they have done miles of climbing mountains and plenty of wet saddle blankets! They are sensible and honest trek horses that love being around people
6. They won’t be sold to a 1 horse home or someone who lives on 1/2 acre, they have been born and raised in a mob on 100’s of acres
7. Lastly, they won’t be cheap!

All these horses are homebred, love to work and we want nothing but the best for them when they leave the safety of their family and mob.

📣 Announcement 📣
Recently we finished our last trek for the season before the winter settles in over the High Country. A massive thank you to our amazing crew and special volunteers who make it happen! Mat, Dave, Jacquie, Swampy, Will, Kurt, Rach, Claudia, Jenny, Don, Alan, James, Annie, Julie and Rob.

Next season, we have made the very difficult decision to make it our last season indefinitely for Hidden Trails by Horseback. After 17 years, we are going to roll up the swag and spend more time at home with our family and invest more time into Maddie and Digby’s interests and our own!

We started this horse trekking business as an unmarried couple back in 2010 and it has taken us to the most spectacular and mind blowing places in the Victorian High Country, as well as The Kimberley. It allowed us to meet the most incredible people and experience adventure like no other! We can’t explain in words how fortunate and full our lives have been because of Hidden Trails by Horseback.

Our beautiful farmstay property is giving us so many opportunities and we are excited to see where it leads us.

In April 2027 there will be a number of our incredible homebred mountain horses available for sale, please feel free to contact us to express interest in certain horses.
Suitable homes will be the highest priority for our beautiful Hidden Trails family members 🐴

That being said, our 2026-27 trek dates are live on our website! Don’t hesitate, jump on and book your bucket list ride!
