Our favourite ice cream stop in 🍦

At .icecreamery, “let’s go get an ice cream” turns into a whole outing.

Grab a cone (or two), find a spot on the beautiful patio and take your time working through as many flavours as possible.

Once you’ve had your ice cream fix, make a day of it and explore more of the shire. With waterfalls, swimming holes, walking tracks and scenic drives nearby, this is the perfect excuse for a road trip.

Because ice cream tastes even better when it’s part of an adventure.

Some views don’t quite make sense until you’re standing there seeing them with your own eyes 😮‍💨

Lambs Head (Kahlpahlim Rock) gives you real edge-of-the-world energy, perched 1300m above sea level overlooking the rolling hills of the Mareeba Shire and Tablelands, all the way out to Cairns and the blue water of the Great Barrier Reef.

The full circuit is a 12km loop starting from Upper Davies Creek, and the final lookout feels like nature showing off a little.

One minute you’re deep in rugged bushland… the next you’re standing above half of .

There’s a reason the produce hits different here. Mareeba Shire and the wider are one of ’s richest food bowls, with volcanic soil, sunshine and generations of farming behind it all.

began in Mareeba during COVID with one simple goal: help local farmers keep their produce moving. What started under a carport selling boxes of fruit has grown into a thriving local food hub connecting the Tablelands and Cairns communities with fresh, locally grown produce.

From seasonal fruit and vegetables to pantry staples and FNQ Direct Boxes delivered to your door, every shop supports local growers and keeps food miles low.

If you’re visiting the region, consider this your sign to taste the Tablelands for yourself 🍊

If you’re driving into Mt Molloy from Mareeba, you can’t miss it 🏭

This towering structure beside the highway is what remains of the old J.M. Johnston sawmill steam plant, once a major part of the town’s timber industry 🪵

Operating from the early 1900s through to the 1960s, the mill processed rainforest timber hauled in from surrounding forests and helped sustain Mt Molloy after the mining era slowed down.

Today, the heritage-listed boiler block stands as a reminder of the region’s industrial past, and one of the most fascinating roadside stops in .

Save this for your next drive through the region 👇
