Lambs Head (Kahlpahlim Rock) gives you real edge-of-the-world energy, perched 1300m above sea level overlooking the rolling hills of the Mareeba Shire and Tablelands, all the way out to Cairns and the blue water of the Great Barrier Reef.

The full circuit is a 12km loop starting from Upper Davies Creek, and the final lookout feels like nature showing off a little.

If you’re driving into Mt Molloy from Mareeba, you can’t miss it 🏭

This towering structure beside the highway is what remains of the old J.M. Johnston sawmill steam plant, once a major part of the town’s timber industry 🪵

Operating from the early 1900s through to the 1960s, the mill processed rainforest timber hauled in from surrounding forests and helped sustain Mt Molloy after the mining era slowed down.

Today, the heritage-listed boiler block stands as a reminder of the region’s industrial past, and one of the most fascinating roadside stops in .
