- Why do we do Clothed Swimming Weeks?

Have you ever wondered why we do closed swimming weeks without developing swimmers? Well, the majority of drownings and non-fatal drownings happen with children have their clothes and their shoes on.

We need children to feel comfortable and learn drowning prevention skills in the water with the weight of shoes, clothes and or nappies on.

Welcome Lynden - Pacific Pines Manager!

Lynden began his journey with Superfish at just 12 years old in a junior position and has loved being involved in every way possible ever since. Growing up on the Gold Coast, he was always in the water - from competitive swimming during school, where he proudly earned Age Champion and represented in the South Coast Districts, to spending time at the beach as a local.
Having started in the Superfish program as a baby, becoming a part of the team now as a manager feels especially meaningful. Lynden understands the true value of learning to swim - not only as a sport he’s passionate about, but as a vital life skill for enjoying Australia’s coastal lifestyle safely.
As a manager, he is passionate about helping children become confident swimmers, supporting families through their Superfish journey, and sharing the joy that swimming brings to every stage of life.
Superfish has been a part of my life from the very beginning - now I get to share my love of swimming and help others build essential life-saving skills.

- Why is Stroke Development so important?

- Why do we teach with NO Goggles?

People quite often ask why we don't use goggles in early swimming development. Well, goggles offer a false sense of security. We've seen so many children who have been taught to swim with goggles, then panic in water when they don't have them on. This is dangerous and can affect a child's safety, especially the ones who you consider to have strong swimming skills.

Learning to swim from the beginning without goggles reduces fear and anxiety in the water. Swimmers also become more adaptable in different swimming conditions.

Safety is our priority. As soon as we feel that a child has strong water safety skills, goggles are introduced into our program.
