As comes closer, our focus continues to be on the safety of our team, their families, and the wider tourism industry throughout and areas of

Mother Nature is a powerful force and through circumstances beyond everyone's control, businesses' find themselves preparing for the unknown, people are faced with potential evacuation from their homes, events are being cancelled, and the travel plans of many have been cancelled.

At this time, it's important to focus on family, friends, and your local community: how can you offer support - can your kitchen assist with meal preparations, provide equipment and clean linen, donate food and beverages.

With people unable to travel, can those cancelled rooms be used by emergency personnel who are setting up control centres in your area or for those unable to remain in their own home and are without a local support network.

Australians are a extremely resilient lot, and we are incredible generous to those who have experienced hardship. Following any extreme weather event, historical evidence tells us that travellers are ready to rebook as soon as it is safe to travel and we all hope that is sooner rather than later.

The sales process can be a challenging journey: it requires patience, persistence, flexibility, and the ability to always remain positive and have a smile in your voice.

We wanted to share a fantastic win on behalf of one of our clients recently by Sara who has been with our team for seven months.

Following up on a group sales lead to see if our hotel client could assist with the group's accommodation needs over an upcoming peak event period, Sara was able to determine that their existing accommodation relationship had fallen through and they were keen to hear more about what our client could offer.

Sara was able to convert the business: providing a much-needed revenue pick up for our client and, begin the strong foundations for what we hope will be an ongoing relationship for future years. For regional hotels and motels, being a member, or engaging with your peak tourism body can often result in more than networking opportunities. Often these bodies are responsible for the delivery of small business grants that have been established by local councils to support tourism growth, and which can be used to enhance your business.

In our latest case study, the motel was a recipient of one of these grants and elected to use it to undertake an audit of their existing Global Distribution System (GDS) as their market pe*******on was underperforming when compared with their competitor set, review their current pricing strategy, and assess their existing tech systems.

What about your life would you like to celebrate most? My child, Erin, and my business.

What three words best describe you in this phase of your life? Freedom, peace, adventure.

What do you love about this time of life? Being there to support Erin as they begin to find their place in the world - providing them with the knowledge and confidence to know that they can do whatever and be whomever they aspire to be. I have finally found peace and am financially able to support that new-found calm

Anything else you would like to add about life? It’s a precious gift that we have been given.

As the end of 2024 quickly approaches, we would like to take a moment to reflect on the many opportunities it has brought with it. We have enjoyed success but also learnt a lot along the way. We have expanded the range of services we can offer and have achieved outcomes that we would have never thought possible a year ago.

In recent years, RevenYou has elected not to deliver corporate gifts at the end of the year, but have instead chosen to 'gift by giving back' on our clients' behalf.

This year we have selected Foodbank Australia who, in their own words, are "the pantry to the charity sector in Australia." In Australia, Food Bank provides food and grocery relief to 2,929 front-line charities and 3,220 school breakfast programs to help feed people in need. In 2023, they sourced enough food to produce 92 million meals while also making a significant impact on reducing food wastage.

At a time when so many more Australians are being impacted by mortgage distress and higher living costs, the incredible work that Food Bank, and their army of volunteers and partners, undertakes across the country is making a real difference to those in need.

We wanted to give a shout out to the fabulous Charlotte - who is one month shy of her first anniversary with our team - on delivering an amazing outcome to a hotel in need recently.

After a well-respected industry peer was retained to set up the PMS and Channel Manager for an opening hotel, we were contacted by the hotel owner to see if we could provide some assistance after weeks of challenges with pricing not mapping.

Once system access was granted, Charlotte took on the challenge: in 36 minutes, an investigation was undertaken, issue identified, resolved and rate parity working.

While we love working with our clients on an ongoing basis, there are times when we receive a SOS call for some one-off support and we pride ourselves in applying the same level of care and consideration to these requests as we do to all our valued clients.

For families travelling away for the festive season, their much-needed end-of-year holiday can be preceded by a period of chaos: work deadlines, last-minute shopping and trying to see all of the family, including the cousin twice-removed, before leaving. And parents often have to manage the difficult question of "how will Santa find us if we are not at home?"

Here are our tips to create a sense of Christmas magic for your guests: not only will you have extremely grateful parents, but with the growing influence of children in travel decision making, the positive word of mouth generated can be priceless.

* For guests travelling with children, let them know in your pre-arrival communications that you have been in touch with Santa, Mrs Claus and the reindeers and they know where you are on Google Maps.

* Some fun content can be created for sharing on your social media channels.

* Install special reindeer landing signage and elf friendly zones - this can become a great photo opportunity for your guests.

* Have a supply of cookies and carrots available for those parents that have forgotten to bring these essentials in the rush to depart.

* Create a special 'Santa sack' activity kit as a welcome amenity for each child.

These are all small things to do, you do not have to spend much but the rewards can be amazing.
