Vale Forest. With a broken heart we are letting you know Forest was put to sleep yesterday. We were fighting this fat leg that escalated in March this year. After lots of treatment and us doing everything we could to help get rid of the cellulitis it beat us Monday. Although he wasn’t lame his leg was huge.
Many thanks to Matt from Seville vets for doing everything we could. Thanks Liz Alexander for doing what you did and Anthea for helping out where she could.
Thanks Glynn for keeping his feet in the best condition and for the special shoes he wore. What a horse he was. Absolute gentlemen. He was a limousine to ride. He had the most soft mouth and comfortable paces. He won rugs in every level he competed in. We will miss you Forest.
FORESTS JOURNEY TO ADELAIDE. I am writing this coming from a wife's point of view!! Buck is a very humble guy and would never do it!!Anyone who has ever bred a horse knows how hard it is to get what you ordered. I asked Mike Orton for a loan of 2 horses to breed some horses to sell. Anybody who knows us knows we are terrible at selling horse. Forest was born on the 22 November 2005. He was born at midnight out of Ambush Fern. He had the longest legs ever. Buck stood next to him and said 'he's mine'. I said he will win the young event horse as a 4 year old. The journey has been long. Forest worked through the sections and then he's 1*. Nothing has ever been hurried with Forest. He has done many events at the same height. He's 17.3hh so he has been taken slowly. I always joke he will be the oldest person competing, but he's not. Many times Buck has said if it wasn't for forest he wouldn't be competing. Especially at 2*. This is the 4 th horse Buck has got to 2*. They have always peaked at this level. Forest has had a fantastic run in 2*. He has been to 10 events and missed out on a placing at 2. At Avenel last week he was winning the dressage with a 69% and with one rail he was still in the lead. In the cross country he showed us that he is not a machine! A very timely reminder considering he is competing at Adelaide international 3de. The eventing world is great at pulling together so we've worked on the water since. Will, Nina, Leanne and Janet are always willing to give advice. Thank you very much. When I say we,it is a journey for both Buck and I. Anyone competing at this level know that you need huge support. I've gone to most lessons and watched the progress. When we decided to go to Adelaide we have employed a lot of people to keep Forest in peak condition. You know who you are. Huge huge thanks. We went to Adelaide last year because buck had never been. Walking back to the motel we came across this park called' forest dreams'. It gave us both goose bumps!!! It's a lot of fun when you get the pleasure from a horse and to watch buck and forest with this beautiful 12 year bond. The amount of support buck has got from clients is fantastic. If you are going to Adelaide and you see them on the cross country, cheer them on. It doesn't distract them. They love it!!
