My calendar just reminded me that 15 years ago today, Quo Vadis Holidays was officially born as a business.

Where has the time gone...?!

The goal for my first year of tours to be run in 2012 was simple enough: run two (hopefully) fully-booked 21-day "European Aperitif" tours (France, Switzerland and Italy) for travellers in their 30s and 40s.

After more than 14 months of intensive marketing and advertising (including a quirky Quo Vadis Holidays logo-wrapped Smart Car driving around Melbourne!), the result was...

ZERO bookings!

Yes, that's right. Not one single booking.

Not exactly the dream start to a new business....

Fast forward 14 years, with plenty of blood, sweat, tears, challenges, many lessons learned and unforgettable experiences along the way, and Quo Vadis Holidays has now taken more than 750 guests on 43 escorted tours to 28 countries around the world, plus another 140 guests on my special "Southern Lights Flight" charter flight to view the southern lights from 35,000ft in a Qantas 787 Dreamliner down by Antarctica.

To everyone who has travelled with me (and especially the MANY repeat guests!), supported me, recommended me to friends and family, or simply followed the "journey" over the years — thank you! You've all played a huge part in making this little dream a reality. 🙏🎉🥂

There’s something truly magical about autumn in Japan 🍁

One of my favourite sights in Tokyo in November 2024 when researching sights for this year’s two 18-day “Autumn Jewels of Japan” bespoke trips was the breathtaking and popular gingko tree-lined street, Meiji Jingu Gaien Ginkgo Avenue. Beautifully pruned and changing from green to glowing in the most vivid golden yellow as the season changes to late autumn.

I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy a little piece of that magic at home too — my own young gingko bonsai I purchased upon returning home from that trip also recently turned to a lovely stunning shade of yellow this autumn. A small reminder of just how special this season is.
