In light of the current political situation in Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) today provided an update on the current political situation in Sri Lanka. The Bureau would like to assert that tourists are free to travel to any part of the country and tourist sites are safe to travel.

All regular international flights operate to Colombo as scheduled. There are no restrictions on travel within the country.

Sri Lanka Tourism regularly interacts with tour operators and the Tourist Police to ensure tourists feel safe regardless of where they travel to within Sri Lanka. There have been no complaints lodged or incidences reported from tourists as a result of the current political situation. smartraveller.gov.au advises that travellers should exercise normal safety precautions in Sri Lanka.

Mirissa is a laid back beach paradise on the south coast of Sri Lanka. The town is easily accessible from the capital city of Colombo; the journey takes just 3 hours by car. Mirissa is the perfect place to relax with a hammock and a cocktail and watch the world go by.
