Our Sri Lankan adventure draws to a close with unforgettable experiences. Departing Yala, we paused to witness the traditional stilt fishermen along the southern coast—a practice unique to Sri Lanka, where fishermen perch on poles to catch their daily haul.

Next, we visited a sea turtle hatchery, dedicated to the conservation of these endangered creatures, offering insight into their life cycle and the efforts to protect them. The final destination was Galle, where we explored the historic Dutch fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and wandered through its charming streets lined with colonial architecture.

Staying at Jetwing Lighthouse, an iconic hotel designed by Geoffrey Bawa, we enjoyed breathtaking ocean views and reflected on our 14-day journey during our Farewell Dinner through this beautiful country. It has been an honour for Unforgettable Sri Lanka to host Croydon Travels' inaugural Sri Lankan Odyssey Tour.

We wrapped up the day with sundowners on the sand dunes, the perfect way to bid farewell to this breathtaking wilderness.

All aboard! Our journey begins in Kandy as we ascend by train through the breathtaking green hills to Nuwara Eliya. Here, we indulge in a delightful high tea at The Grand Hotel, surrounded by its award-winning gardens.

An optional early morning trek at Horton Plains (9km) offers stunning scenery for the adventurous.

After some well-deserved relaxation, we savour a tea-tasting experience before enjoying an evening of entertainment. After two unforgettable nights, we set off for our next destination—Yala!

The Sri Lankan Odyssey continues!

En route to Kandy, we explored a renowned spice garden, discovering the secrets of Sri Lanka’s fragrant spices. The next morning, we visited the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, followed by a fascinating walking tour—complete with a delicious dosa snack!

The day unfolded with an authentic Sri Lankan cooking class at Sthree, where we learned the art of local flavours, before ending the evening with a captivating cultural show.

Next stop: Nuwara Eliya, the heart of Sri Lanka’s breathtaking hill country! Stay tuned as we journey through misty mountains, lush tea plantations, and colonial charm.

Stepping Back in Time – Exploring Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle!

From ancient caves to towering rock fortresses, the last few days have been nothing short of magical!

Dambulla Cave Temple – Awe-inspiring murals and centuries-old Buddha statues made this UNESCO site a truly spiritual experience.

Ancient City of Polonnaruwa – Walking through the ruins of a grand kingdom, marvelling at intricate carvings and ancient stupas.

Wildlife Encounters – Spotted majestic elephants near Minneriya National Park, a magical moment in nature!

Sigiriya Rock Fortress – An early morning climb rewarded us with spectacular views and a glimpse into Sri Lanka’s royal history.

Authentic Sri Lankan Feast – Enjoyed a traditional village meal, rich in flavours and hospitality.

Sunset Bliss – Relaxing at our resort, cocktail in hand, watching the sky transform into a canvas of colours.
